Hello to all football fans...
Newcastle united are one of the premiership's biggest under achievers, now coming from a Newcastle fan i will admit that is an old cliche. I'm going to provide some evidence to back up my statement but first i must stress some things....i am in no way saying that Newcastle deserve cups and deserve to be top of the league, for some reason all other fans think this is how we feel. I'm simply saying..... With the squad we have we should be holding a far greater position than at present, with the money pumped out of the club on players over the last few years is it acceptable that we are below teams like Bolton, Villa, Blackburn, Reading...NO! With the gargantuan sums of money spent we should be far higher... Who is too blame? the chairman? NO! All he has ever done is back his managers and provide hefty sums of cash to spend, he gave £50million to Souey and look what he did. He may have said and done some questionable things in the past..but when it comes to supporting the manager he does it. The manager(s)..the managers we brought in after Keegan left were simply not good enough, Kenny Dalglish, Ruud Gullit, Graeme Souness were all poor. Sir Bobby Robson was great in my view perhaps he reached his expiry date in terms of taking the club forward, but when you sack Robson you need to make a decent replacement and Souness was not DECENT.... I'm sick of hearing our managers bleating, harping, crying, moaning, whining and [beep!] about injuries, admittedly we do have a treatment table to rival any in Holby city..so you could say we have been very unlucky..but you make your own luck, football is not about fair, its about unpredictability..and as Toon fans will no Newcastle can certainly be that sometimes. Its like with Jose Mourinho..how can you moan about having too small a squad and having too many injuries with the money he has spent, its his own fault so deal with it Jose. The players...YES! Finally we have the problem..the players. NUFC Fans are used to seeing vastly talented players pull on the black and white e.g. Gazza, Ferdinand, Beardsley, Shearer..not pathetic uncommitted penny pinching lay abouts who could not hack it..e.g Stephane Gui'varch, Marcelinho, Bassedas, Acuna and more recently Albert Luque. If i had to choose a player who epitomises the traits i mentioned above..it would be our old french defender Jean Alain Boumsong, a shocking piece of business, at £8million Rangers were licking their proverbial lips, what a shambolic player. moving on The squad today...a fully fit Newcastle side would hold a top 5 spot easily, but even with the injuries we have still got some strong players and have pulled great results out the hat, most notably against Manchester UTD. We have an array of vastly talented players in all positions. Our best and most important players are Given Taylor Ramage Emre Parker Dyer Milner Martins We have got a great blend of youth and experience which makes the team tick, but its obvious we need strengthening given our progressively depleted squad. The defence is an area we need to look at, Babayaro can't start for us, he is not good enough. A left back is a must, as is a right back, Carr is injury prone and when he plays he does not play well. And finally attacking wise. We need a forward, ATM We have 2 fit forwards Martins and Sibierski, we need to bring someone in, maybe a GOOD loan signing not another Rossi. A goalscorer is a must. In some ways you could argue this Newcastle side is the total and complete antithesis of the side we had ten years ago, but there is hope in the players we have. And with Super Scotty Parker we can climb the table. A fully fit Newcastle side... The priority is to get a top 5 spot or 6 spot, and to get regular european football. A trophy is a bonus, but its no good a trophy if you go down. So we got to get top 6 spot every season. Uefa cup or Champion league every season is where we want to be. Trouble is with some Newcastle fans its not good enough. When we were finishing 4th or 5th they were grumbling. Some are never happy. We should get behind the team and support them, wherever we are in league.
Roeder has never been one to blame defeats on injuries. He has put out a team that has got great results despite the injuries and we have more injuires than Souness ever had but now is not the time to complain about past managers - it's pointless. We have got to get behind Roeder and the team. If you are True black and white, I'm sure you will. |

i agree, i think if Newcastle were to win a cup (F.A cup, UEFA cup) then it would completely boost there confidence, and who knows we could win a cup and also finish in the top 5 |

Written too much, is this not a forum? is this not a melting pot of collective ideas and opinions? Owen will be great! don't judge him before you have seen him. |

Good points Toon Goon but its all relative. Not all great teams were built on money, like you said great teams need top players and a manager.
