FIFA Women's World Stars v China |

FIFA Women's World Stars v. China to open programme
The festivities surrounding the final draw for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2007 in Wuhan (China) on 22 April will get off to a flying start on the eve of the draw with a showcase match between the China women's national team and the FIFA Women's World Stars at the Wuhan Sport Center Stadium, one of the five venues for the final competition itself in September 2007. It promises to be a fine way to open the event! The FIFA Women's World Stars will largely be made up of players from teams that have already qualified for the final competition (cf. list below). Notable names among the invited players are Marta (Brazil, FIFA Women's World Player of the Year for 2006), Kristine Lilly (USA, runner-up to Marta in the 2006 vote) and Birgit Prinz (Germany, a three-time winner of the same award in 2003, 2004 and 2005). Current England coach Hope Powell and the former coach of the reigning world champions Germany, Tina Theune-Meyer, have been invited to put this "dream team" through its paces. Having claimed their eighth Asian crown in Australia in July 2006, China will certainly want to show their fans their potential with just a few months to go until they host the four-yearly Women's World Cup, the biggest event in women's football. |
But what is Marta doing on that list |
she is the FIFA player of the year, I bet they want her to be there |
I bet they want her to be in Umea at the same time
I hope they'll postpone the All Stars game then. What a lack of organisation skills Couldn't they make sure there's nothing important going on on that day? |
All stars to win for me , too much talent

It seems like Umeå's manager Roland Arnqvist alreday pretty sue he will not relase Marta (brazil & Umeå) for it
http://dandal.webblogg.se/ It is possible that Bente Nordby (Norway & DIF/Älvsjö) and Lotta Schelin (Sweden & Linköping) will be relased from their teams and the leauge for this game but it will likely meet some protest from the clubs. |
That would be a big blow for Umea to release Marta and very unfairand they cannot force them to let her go as well.
I want to watch Marta too in the final, she can't go
She's not going anywhere
BTW, a bit offtopic (or maybe not): don't you think it's slightly unfair that 3 major events this year, take place in China? I can't afford to go there (cos of money and lack of time), I can only go to European stadiums and I'm sure many of the Europeans as well - I'd love to see the 4 Nations or that All Stars game but everything, including the World Cup, takes place in China OK, there's Algarve - but that has always been in Portugal Why couldn't they organise the All Stars game in Germany for example - world stars against the world champions or so? Not fair |
It is annoying when it's so far away , and I doubt there televise it. The Four Nations I think has always been played In China , they won the right to hold the World Cup but the All Star Game I agree should be played somewhere in Europe , it's only fair , plus the event would get more support.
Just look forward to the Olympics , at least that's in England , a long way off I know |
