We need to get Faye White back , there missing her authority. When she plays she installs passion , and is vocal , that was was missing last week.

Yep I think you are right. They need to sit down and talk about what is going on. Sometimes just a talk like that can get some new spirit into a team. The FA can't help anymore, too little time for that, so now it's up to the players to show how good they really are. Cool

A few quotes from Hope Powell:

"We've really enjoyed the experience
of playing against some of the top sides in the world this week
and Germany are undoubtedly the number one side"

"Tactically we had to be on top of our game
and again all credit goes to the players as they did what was asked of them,
and territorially had the better of the game."

"We know that the likes of Prinz, Rottenberg, Lingor and Garfrekes were missing
but there were still some very experienced players on the German side today
and we still looked very solid."

"We came out again on the front foot as we did against the USA
and although I'm not totally satisfied,
psychologically the last two results have given everyone a big boost"

"This tournament has been a massive learning curve
and we can only improve as a result of what we've learnt."

"We want to be invited to many more of these tournaments
as they are the perfect dress rehearsal for when the major championships come round
and I think our players have really won over the local fans this week,
something I hope will ensure we get plenty of support come the World Cup."

"Kelly is a great player and the world hasn't seen what she can offer for so long
as she's had such a string of bad injuries."

"All of our players have taken on a lot of information this week
and acquitted themselves with professionalism."

"Kelly epitomises that with her workrate and willingness
to close opponents down all over the park
and hopefully the world will get to see
what Kelly and our squad can do this September."

====================================

I think Hope cuts them too much slack,
she should be more strict and demanding Twisted Evil

AS couldn't be more right.

Just from watching them perform in that short tournament you could see so much poor organisation on the pitch and a sense of nervousness - not just because of what they were facing because they didn't know how to handle it through their play.

I personally thought that the England team were tactically poor and psychologically weak - a big part of that is down to the Manager for me. Kelly Smith, Mary Philip & Katie Chapman seemed like the only 3 players who knew their job & gave their all on all kinds of levels.

Except those three, I think Rachel Unitt did well too
- she seemed calm on the ball and was making the right decisions,
at least most of them. She should have been allowed to play more.

Yes, it's me praising Unitt - write it in the Chronicles of England Wink

Haha..

I thought she showed composure & confidence, but alike many of her team-mates she kept hoofing the ball forward back to the opposition. Continually taking the wrong options and once she missed that header in the dieing minutes of the game I thought it was shocking.

But she does look like a player who can hold her own in a nervy squad - because of experience & confidence in her own abilities & role.

She still looked better than most of her team mates,
especially among defenders.
Hey, if I'm saying nice things about Rachel Unitt,
and you must know I'm not the biggest fan of hers,
then she must have been good Laughing Wink

Hope Solo is fitter.

The use of the word 'fitter' being different to that of health fitness. Wink
