Im from SA, wanting to come to Britian, (England, Ireland, Scotland - all english speaking countries.),
to hopefully complete the FA Pro Licence. I am only 22yrs old and i need to be able to support myself while obtaining all the badges. I need to be employed in the football field. I have little experience - a few months coaching experience at Primary School levels, and 5 seasons of playing amatuer football. Even though i come from South Africa my knowledge of the game would suprise many. I live for football, its my only passion and i will do anything to be a part of it. I dont want to watch football on TV no more, i want to be a part of it.

My Email is apstl8@yahoo.com

hi,
you cant just turn up and take your UEFA Pro. This is by invitation only.
Also level 2 take 6months, Level 3/UEFA B a year and L4/UEFA A a little over a year!

Also courses are run seperately so after one course you will have to wait for the next available course at the next level up. These courses are also very expensive, the UEFA Pro is from what I heard the best part of £5000!

It appears you have ambition but living in South Africa it will cost you far too much time and money to just turn play a few matches to support you badges! Are there not any similar awards in your own country that are cheaper and dont have travelling expenses?

I am also south african, with similar ambitions. I am 20 years old. I also hold a diploma in sports coaching science from a college affiliated with the sports science institute of south africa. My question is: is it possible to complete your level 1 and 2 in the same year? I have a fair amount of expierience (about 2 and a half years) with several different team, ranging from u12 to u17 to senior players, as well as players in the u7-u10 age group. Therefore, with my qualification, I should be able to cruise through the level 1 and pass the level 2 fairly easily. By the sounds of it, it requires keeping a coaching log with progressive, linked sessions etc. This is exactly what I have done since I started my studies. So can anyone tell me, is it possible to do your level 1 and then your level 2 straight after. Or is there a mandatory time period you have to coach in-between? And are the levels following that one by invitation only? What is the criteria for you to get invited? Would it be a problem that I am a south african?

I'm pretty sure the FA would let you take your level 2 straight after your level 1 however they'd probably prefer you to have a gap of 12 to 18 months to get more coaching experience.

I did my level 2 about 6 months after my level 2.

For levels 1, 2 and 3 to dont have to be invited to take them, you just have to ring the FA and get them to book you onto the course your interested in.

special one,
with your diploma and experience I would skip your Level One badge completely and enrol onto a Level2 course! It is possible to do your Level One and Two within a year but I think Level One isn't worth completing in your case!

Only the UEFA Pro is by invitation only because it is aimed at coaches working with the senior players in the top Premiership clubs.

The only pre-requisiste for the other awards are that you complete the next award down in the qualification ladder.

For instance, you cannot complete your Level 3 before Level2 etc. Skipping out Level1 and starting at Level2 is the only exception to the rule!

The only thing I can't help you with is the issue of your nationality. I can't honestly tell you how being South African will affect your enrollment but you should definately contact the FA with any queries.

Hope this helps
