It would have been nice to have a drive of less than half an hour to see you play - Wales played their last home game close to where I live. But, I suppose they'd have arranged it at the other end of the country just to be awkward anyway |

Thanks a lot, I was pretty lucky I found a very good coach and a good team when I was young and I thank them everyday for it Don't give up on finding a team, search hard and I'm sure you do, it's pretty easy to find a team and play here though. Good luck as well |

I think it depends on money a lot.
Ladies don't have as much money to go here and there, travel all across Europe for one game. It's easier and cheaper to pick a host country and play all the group games there. |

Carabott scores four
as Hibs make sure in first half Hibernians 7-0 Melita There was only one match at the Luxol Ground this week from the women's football championship as the organisers effected some changes to the original programme due to the national team's friendly match against Switzerland at the Hibs Ground later on this month. In a match from Group A, Hibernians maintained their challenge at the top of the standings with a comfortable 7-0 victory over Melita. The champions, who had top-scorer Ylenia Carabott in fine form are now on equal points with the other front-runners of the championship, Birkirkara. The Stripes, however, have a game in hand. Melita's plan for this match was surely to keep Hibs at a distance as much as they could and avoid an early goal. However, their plot was lost after only two minutes. The hot-shot Carabott forced her way through and fired home past a stranded Simone Zammit from an acute angle. Hibs looked to make the most of their fine start but after a series of near misses, it was Melita who almost drew level when goalkeeper Rita Tagliaferro was quick to stop a Rebecca D'Agostino shot. D'Agostino then dribbled past the Hibs keeper but her shot sailed just over the bar. Hibs made sure to avoid any surprises in the last minutes before half-time. On 37 minutes, Dorianne Theuma delivered a perfect corner for the unmarked Dionne Tonna who headed home from close in. Then, Carabott scored a hat-trick in quick succession for the Paolites to go for the interval leading 5-0. Theuma added another goal for Hibs soon after the restart. Melita looked jaded but until the final whistle they managed to stay focused and only conceded one other goal. That came on 80 minutes when Kathleen Saliba, playing her 100th match for Hibs, placed the ball home from close distance. Hibs: R. Tagliaferro, L.A. Galea, N. Grima (M. Portelli), L. Shead, M. Azzopardi, R. Chircop, D. Theuma, D. Tonna (M. Camilleri), K. Saliba, Y. Carabott (C. Sciberras), R. Farrugia. Melita: S. Zammit, D. Allingham (J. Abdilla), C. Scicluna (L. Tabone), N. Pace, D. Micallef (L. D'Amato), C. Zammit, I. Vassallo, R. Steerchetham (O. Runco), O. Bedingfield, R. D'Agostino, G. Zahra. Top scorers: Y. Carabott (Hibs) 16 goals C. Dalli (Sta Venera) 10 goals S. Caruana (Hibs) 9 goals D. Theuma (Hibs) 9 goals A. Atkins (Sliema Raiders) 8 goals ========================= Wooooooooo! Well done Cookie! The game must have been amazing and it seems you didn't even play the whole 90 minutes! Congrats on another great result! |

Hey guys, sorry i've been away for a while but my computer broke down last month. I've been busy training for hibs and the national team as well.
Thanks for the post Agent Smith I played about 50 minutes cause I had a yellow (which came for celebrating and had no harm at all) and the ref seemed to want to send me off for no reason. Next game is against B'kara but before that we're playing with the national team in a friendly vs the Swiss. Thanks again everyone, I'll try to log on when I have the chance and keep you posted. |

Stripes stay three points clear after 2-2 draw
Hibernians needed a late Dorianne Theuma goal to avoid a second defeat this season at the hands of strong title contenders and leaders Birkirkara in midweek. In a Group B match, Sliema Raiders easily disposed of Sta Venera Lightnings for their fourth successive win. The main match, however, was the Group A clash between the top two teams in the standings as Birkirkara and Hibernians met for the second time this season at the Luxol Ground. In the end, no team prevailed as they had to settle for a point apiece. It was the first drawn result between these two rivals since season 2003/04. On that occasion one of their matches finished one-all. Hibernians made all the early running. On 13 minutes, Birkirkara goalkeeper Nina Dimech failed to hold a Theuma free-kick with the ball bouncing off the bar and Chantalle Grech firing the rebound against the woodwork. The Stripes weathered the early storm and broke the stalemate on 20 minutes. Hibernians keeper Rita Tagliaferro was deceived by Eleonora Agliano's inswinger from a free-kick with the ball sailing into the net. But, Hibs came back strongly and equalised five minutes from the break. Theuma slipped a pass to Ylenia Carabott who lobbed the ball cutely over the goalkeeper The champions had the chance to take the lead after the break but missed a couple of clear chances. Hibs were made to pay dearly for that as on 63 minutes Birkirkara regained their lead when Agliano broke through before slotting the ball past Tagliaferro. Hibs surged forward in attack and got a deserved equaliser on 75 minutes. They were awarded a free-kick outside the box and Theuma had the better of Dimech with a firm drive. Birkirkara held on for a precious point which keeps them three ahead in the standings. The Stripes have now edged closer to breaking Hibs' grip on the championship. On Tuesday, Sliema beat Sta Venera 3-0. They took the lead on 20 minutes when Damaris Cassar hit home a loose ball inside the box. Raiders doubled their lead on the half-hour mark when Atkins released Cassar who beat Roberta Cutajar from close in. The Lightnings tried to pull one back after the break but it was Raiders who had the best chances. Chanelle Cassar and Atkins had efforts that came off the woodwork but ten minutes from time Atkins sealed her team's win when she scored from a free-kick. Top scorers Y. Carabott (Hibernians) 17 goals C. Dalli (Sta Venera) 10 goals; S. Caruana (Hibs), D. Theuma (Hiber-nians), A. Atkins (Sliema) 9 goals. Next matches Tuesday - 8.15 p.m. Mgarr United vs Sta Venera. Wednesday - 8.15 p.m. Mosta vs Hibernians. |
