Tottenham have received a bye into the last 16 of the Uefa Cup after the Court of Arbitration upheld Uefa's decision to eject Feyenoord from the tournament

The Dutch side were thrown out of the competition after crowd trouble marred their group match against Nancy, but appealed against that decision.

However, the CAS dismissed the appeal and fined Feyenoord £40,000.

It means Spurs, who will lose out on gate receipts and TV money, go through to a last 16 match with Parma or Braga.

The CAS said in a statement: "The court has dismissed the appeal filed by Feyenoord Rotterdam against the decision issued by Uefa to exclude the Dutch club from the Uefa Cup for the season 2006-2007.

"The CAS has confirmed in full the Uefa decision which, in addition to the exclusion, imposes a fine of £40,000 on Feyenoord".

Either I'm missing something important, or UEFA are taking the crowd trouble very seriously

Shock horror! Who knew that was coming.

Always a very tenuous chance the decision would get changed.

I feel sorry for the Feyenoord supporters (the ones which aren't thugs) but that's the way it goes sometimes I suppose. I would have preferred to play these guys but nevertheless, I'm still pleased that we're safely through to the next round. Cool
Now we just need to wait for Feyenoord (the forum member) to come on here and express his opinions. He actually seemed to think that his club's appeal has a good chance of being successful. Sad

Simply: we have been [beep!] by the UEFA.

Platini: "we have to give a signal this cant go on". Look at yourself uefa, we warned enough there would come visitors out of Feyenoord. YOU wouldnt listen(and Nancy too) and let them buy tickets without clubmembership even when we warned NOT to do that.

According to this I had faith in it we would play against Tottenham but unfortunatley.. Sad

Why did that statement give you faith mate? The statement condemns Feyenoord's actions and claims that you were warned about the situation beforehand. It's basically saying that UEFA needs to take a strong stance against clubs that don't do enough to prevent crowd trouble. Confused

Sorry for late reaction.
We did everything we could against crowd trouble, so thats why I had faith. We told Nancy NOT to sell cards without clubmembership, told or fans NOT to go without a ticket to Nancy... but still Nancy sold tickets to traveled fans who only wanted to fight and get high and drunk.. We did everything we could and they wouldnt listen, but I think as well Nancy as the police of Nancy was very wrong.

ManU will get banned now too for the same, not totally their fault but they have to blame for it.
