What do you mean several times?
It's been two times. The first match and the rematch.
That's how it usually is Smile

Twmcat how many times does it need to be said?
Women don't have as much money as men.
So if it's about friendlies, it's cheaper to do it in one country isn't it?
If they have a camp or something, why not?

But it seems pointless to play twice under those circumstances. Why not just the once?

It seems to be like the cricket they played in Australia, where Australia kept beating England until they got bored, then when England eventually won a game they started saying how good they were.

It's much better if they just play the one important game unless they are doing it on a home and away basis imo.

China want Marika Domanski-Lyfors (former Sweden's coach)
to be their next coach - if she says yes, then I think it's gonna be great for China
as she's a good coach, maybe likes to favourise her players
and play mostly her favourites but which coach doesn't really Wink
She led Sweden to WC and EC silver medals
- that says a lot Cool
And I met her in Stockholm - very nice lady
- nothing to do with anything, I just wanted to show off Mr. Green Laughing Wink

Domanski-Lyfors in final talks for China job

SHANGHAI (AFP) - Sweden's Marika Domanski-Lyfors is set to become the next coach of the Chinese national women's soccer squad if imminent talks in Beijing go well, a state press report said Saturday.

"There is no concrete time set but I will definitely soon be in Beijing for face-to-face negotiations," the Beijing Morning Post quoted Domanski-Lyfors as saying.

"So far my discussions with the China Football Association have been really good and everything up until now has gone really smoothly."

The Women's World Cup starts in six months and whoever is the women's coach will be under huge pressure after Chinese sport officials set the squad a minimum target of a semi-final finish.

"I was under a lot of pressure when I coached Sweden to the finals of the last World Cup, so I know I can clearly face it all," Domanski-Lyfors said.

Domanski-Lyfors, recently described in the Chinese press as "tougher than any male coach," led Sweden to the 2003 World Cup final which they lost to Germany.

She stepped down after nine years as Sweden's coach in 2005 but still works for the Swedish Football Federation and coaches the under-21 side.

Domanski-Lyfors is reportedly the only candidate for the post of the currently troubled "steel roses", as China's women's team is known.

The side has been on a downward spiral for months and last week lost its caretaker coach who stepped down just two months after the head coach abandoned the squad citing ill health.

Last week the squad returned from Europe in disgrace, having lost six games in a row, including defeats to Iceland and Finland.

China have slipped to ninth place in women's football standings in the years since they lost by one penalty goal to the United States in the final of the 1999 World Cup.

Steffi Jones - one of the best defenders in the world,
has announced her retirement from international football Shocked
That's really good news for the anti-German fans Wink

She is 34, won 111 caps having made her debut in July 1993 against Denmark.

Jones, who has lifted two UEFA Women's Cups with 1. FFC Frankfurt, intends to fulfil her club contract until summer 2008 while completing her coaching diploma. She has also worked for German television as a pundit, including at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

"The decision wasn't easy for me, but the idea has matured for a longer period of time. This is the consequence of my own personal evaluation of my performances at the Algarve Cup. Even if others say I played decently, this is not enough for me. My aim is to be marching up front and not just following the others."

So calling it a day is the way to achieve that? Neutral
Anyway, good luck Steffi! Razz
