Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has all but conceded that Gabriel Heinze will miss the FA Cup final against
Arsenal later this month.
The Argentine international has been struggling with an ankle injury picked up against
Newcastle last month, and there has been little change in his situation.
"There is no real change in Gabby's condition," Ferguson told the Manchester Evening News. "He is continuing with his treatment and we are praying he will be okay, but it is not looking good.
"There are 16 days to the final now and we have just got to hope that there is an improvement. However, to give him a chance, he has to be back running next week."
Heinze has been one of United's more consistent performers this season after signing from Paris St Germain in the summer.
