Hey, as I am really starting to learn and get into the Womens side of football i thought i would start a topic about my local Womens team - Reading Ladies F.C - Not to be confused with Reading Women or Reading Royals Ladies (Who were convincingly beaten by Arsenal). This will be a thread i will update constantly with latest news and results of the girls. Posts from you greatly appreciated! To sum up season for the Ladies so far is really a mixed bag and a bit depressing if i am honest. Only three wins on the board so far against Chalfont St Peter and a double over Carterton. We have suffered heavily at the hands of Reading Women, Shanklin, Southamton and Wycombe.

Nice to see the Southern Regional league represented on this forum. I havent seen your team yet but have seen most over the last two seasons. Usually very fierce matches with lots of strong tackling and vocal support on the touchline. The other Reading team with connection to the mens club were running away with your league-I hope to see Slough and Bracknell next week. Look forward to hearing how your team is doing- do they still play at the IBIS ground opposite Reading Towns ground?

Yes mate they do. And Twm, i believe the Reading Royals ladies play in the league directly below the premier league while Reading Ladies and Reading Women both compete in Southern Regional premier League. Currently headed by Bracknell i with Reading Women going strong in 2nd. Unfortunately we are languishing 10th in the division of 11 and face very difficult games against Aldershot and Slough in the coming couple of weeks. Below us only are Carterton who have scored 5 and conceded 90 goals on their way to only 4 points so far from 14 league games.

Right, with the run in to the end of the season looming it's looking bleak. The race to avoid relegation is on between ourselves (played 14, W2 D2 L10 PTS 7) and Carterton (P14 W1 D1 L12 PTS 4). A host of difficult fixtures ahead does not help the situation, games against almost high flying Slough and Aldershot unfortunately i do not see us getting anything out of, if i am being perfectly honest. We need to make the ABSOLUTE most of fixtures against mid table Lauton and Wycombe.

Do the Southern Regional premier League winners get promoted to the league where the Reading Royals ladies are playing now?

I think there is another league in between the South East Combination League which then feeds into The Southern premier division which then goes onto the premier league.

Right the ladies next two fixtures as we desperately try to put some points on the board late on:

8/4/07 - Aldershot - Away Fixture. Aldershot currently lie 4th in the table after winning 6 of their 11 fixtures so far. They have two games in hand over Slough in 3rd and Shanklin in fourth. An extremely difficult fixture to play at this point in the season and the girls will need to work extremely hard to take anything from it.

15/4/07 - Slough - Home fixture. Again another very difficult fixture to be playing in our situation at this time and the girls will need to take advantage of being on home turf if they are going to succeed. Slough currently lie 3rd in the table and look to put forward realistic title ambitions as the season comes for the run in. We will need huge performances from everyone over the coming weeks. But especially from Stewart, Brown and Hall. Our season has not exactly helped by club player of the year Katie Hardie has only played one quarter of the season before going off to travel foreign climes.

Reading Ladies made hard work of what should been a easy game after Carterton travelled to the match with only 9 players available. Credit should be given to the opposition for making the journey and for working very hard to make the game as difficult as possible for Reading. It took 20 minutes for Reading to break the deadlock in very strong winds but Rhonda Stewart found the net after the visiting goalkeeper fumbled the ball under pressure. 15 minutes later Stewart got her second with a low drive into the bottom left hand corner.

There should have been more goals but Reading were at times guilty of being overly confident and lost discipline in key areas of the pitch whilst the high winds made keeping the ball under control difficult for both teams.

Stand in keeper Tracy Averies again did well in her new position to defy a couple of Carterton attempts which came from mistakes by Reading. Left back Vikki Smith probably had her best game of the season with room to explore out wide and she made some telling passes in the first half to provide for Sally Brown and Stewart up front.

The second half was much better from the home side as the team kept more possession and made use of the space from having 2 extra players really count. Nicky West went close in the 2nd half with a low effort and Amelia Sergent's corners were also of good quality but lacking a final touch to get the ball in the net. Stewart made her hatrick after 55 minutes with a neat lob over the keeper. Reading's fourth came 15 minutes from time when Sofie Larsson pounced on a loose ball and prodded home from 8 yards out.

Whilst Reading will be pleased with the 3 points, the performance on the day was one which needs to be vastly improved if they are to get points from their remaining fixtures. Easter Sunday they face Aldershot away followed by Slough at home on April 15th.

Match report from our last game, a rare 4-0 victory against Carterton.

So you've got 7 points, and 3 of those were against a team that only brought 9 players? Shocked

It has been a really difficult season with player constantly coming and going has been hard to find a set consistent squad. Player of the year Katie Hardie left to go travelling before the midway point of the season. We also recieved a one point deduction.

Very Happy Going to get a ticket hopefully, for the Slough game. The girls play on Sunday which is very good because it doesn't clash with my Reading season ticket.

I'll watch any football, anywhere, at any time.
You should really take my advice and go to BWood as well
- don't have to support my beloved Arsenal
but at least see them play - in a few weeks they will be Champions of Europe Cool
