League's attendences up 37%

Figures compiled during the first six weeks of the eircom League of Ireland season show attendances have increased by 37%.

A total of 97,656 people have been present at 66 eircom League of Ireland fixtures to date. This gives an average attendance figure of 1,480.

At this stage last season, a total of 65,828 people had attended 61 fixtures, giving an average attendance of 1,079.

Director of the eircom League of Ireland Fran Gavin has expressed his delight at the figures.

'We have worked very hard to promote the league, both in terms of our marketing campaign and the work of the club promotion officers in local communities, and we believe that these figures show that the work is paying off.

'It is fantastic that more people are choosing to support the eircom League of Ireland and we want to build on these figures over the coming months and years.'

Its great to finally see the crowds improving, it doesnt seem like much but compared to a few years ago where you would have been lucky to get 200 people at some games; its a huge improvement, hopefully the crowds keep going to the gmes now and the league will finally have a chance to grow

which day do you play ? Do you play in evening or day ?

Usually on Friday and Saturday evenings...

like us we play in the night too but in the past it was on friday night and now since several years it's mostly on the saturday night. Wink

I think we have more spectators on saturday than friday, that's why we had changed.

Yeah I agree, my local team changed their home games from Saturday last season to Friday this year and the attendances havent been great, because theyre on Friday now I cant get to games anymore which is annoying
