A move from WHL? |
|
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/sport/football.html?in_article_id=463478&in_page_id=1779&ito=newsnow
since i do not live in london and dont hve a chance to watch Spurs at WHL regularly i was wondering what ppl who can go regularly think of this possible move. |

It is imperative we move to keep up with the big boys and expand on our capacity - I love the Lane and it's history, but it is pretty shambolic when it comes to the transport network in the vicinity - can be a bit of a mare getting to and from on a matchday.

i remember listening to the game against the scum and they were asking why ppl were leaving early i tgink the main reason is transport in my opinion i would welcome a move to a bigger stadium, but also an increase in capacity of WHL.

gee thats a big move, over 100years at the Lane

It is a big sacrifice, but I believe a neccassary one to keep within touching distance of the big boys (and the Arse)
I used to think increasing the capacity at The Lane and improving the transport network would be the answer. And to a dagree it is, but there is only so much expanding you can do within the present site. If it was to go ahead, the next major hurdle would be agreeing the new location - that could be when the real arguing begins! The Arse had the ideal site - quite literally two streets down from Highbury...we won't have that luxury. |

From what ive heard there are many different plans under consideration for Spurs required new stadium.
Several sites are being considered but ive also heard a lot of talk about The Lane being torn down and a new stadium being built where it is now but the axis of the pitch being rotated by 90 degrees. |

We defiantly need to do something. Wheteher it be a new stadium in a new area, or it be WHL torn down and a new stadium made there. We need to be able to compete with the "big guns" if we want to join them in challenging for honours.

BBC are reporting that we are to expand white hart lane to 52000 capacity but it may mean we would have to share a ground with westham for a couple of years.

I heard this mentioned on the Radio this morning driving in - BBC said we're hoping to get the man in who designed the Emirates, and we would share for 2 seasons either with West Ham or Wembley.

I know this topic has been dead for a while but i thought i would put in my thoughts .
The idea of our new stadium being only 52000 -55000 depending where you get your Information seems to be a bit lacking in Ambition for a club which not only wants Champions League but looks like it will achive it sooner or later . If we want to mix with the big boys and claim to be a big club should we not start acting like one and build a 80,000 plus seater stadium ? One on the edge of London with ample parking ,shopping center , gym cinama extra which will attract people to the stadium/arena 365 days of the year?. The cost could be shared with Investers . The extra gate would pull in £3m plus each match /event something Arsenal are seeing the benifit of all ready . It would also Instantainously boost the image of Our club makeing it more able to attract the really big names we dont seem to be able to attract now . We no longe r need to be behind man city , aston villa and the like when it comes to gates or size of stadium. |

80k is a bit too ambitious IMO, especially with the other stadiums around such as Wembley and The Deathstar which will no doubt get the nod for the revenue pulling extra matches such as internationals and cup finals.
60k is a good size and one we will regularly fill to capacity, Im in favour of the plan to knock down WHL and build again there. Sharing with Wham or someone else would be a necessary evil and the whole time we can sit smug in the knowledge that we are oly there while our brand spanking new 50-60k stadium is being built |

I reckon 55,000 is about the best size for us but wed have to at least match Arsenal or just beat them by like 4 seats that would be funny.

Why 80,000?
Becouse Im not just thinking of football events but other concerts and in the future other sporting events . I dont think we would fill a stadium of 80.000 straight away for every match but Local derbies and Liverpool,Man Utd ,plus a few other matches could come close to full houses and with our growth and success the draw to The New Lane would bring in the crowds . Reduced price tickets available to local community groups would help to put bums on seats and build support for the club in the future . The club could become very Important for the area the new club is sited . |

I'd love a 61,000 seater just to beat the scum, but we wouldnt sell out every game so i think the board will decide on redeveloping white hart lane to a 55,000 seater.
Which may be a problem later on if we want to sell more tickets i dont think we could redevelop the lane to any more than 55 thousand. So maybe the best idea is to get a new stadium about 55-60 thousand which could be easily expanded. But dont nock down the lane till i get to go I've decided once i turn 18, got my driving liscence, and hopefully either doing well in my Alevels or got a job. Once ive got that i shall try and go and see a game a month, if i can get tickets but i know its hard unless youve got a season ticket. |

Although lots of Spurs fans would find it difficult to leave White Hart Lane i think its essential to our future to move to a bigger stadium that will have the ability to be expanded again in the future if we need to. I think the most intresting point is that Arsenal earn 60 million more than we do per game, which means they earn almost 3 times as much per game as we do. |

Yup but we need it if we want to compete with the big 4 on a regular basis. |

there was talk of building of us building a new stadia on Hackney marshes a few years back , but that would mean taking the club away from North London , do we really want to do that ? . But there are no sites big enough in N london to accomodate such a project of the size we're talking about , let alone in Tottenham itself , take the club out of Tottenham and its in danger of losing its identity ,do we really want to become another MK DONS.............
shudder at the thought |
