Who will go up in 2007/2008 |
Im going to go for Charlton, West Brom & Leicester for promotion.
Charlton have come down kept players and also made a few good signings. They have young Luke Varney who should do tremendous for them, as he showed a lot of prospect at Crewe and they also got Iwelumo who proved last season he is a good player, but he has to be used as a target man, and I dont think Charlton will play the route one style of play under Pardew. West Brom up to now have kept the core of there squad with Koumas, if they can keep him, they have a lot to base around. I know everyone say one man doesnt make a team, but this boy can change the game in an instance. Leicester with a new board and manager have now got a fresh start. They have made a few good signings and stregnthend where needed. I think they have what it takes. Although I do beleive Allen will be under pressure to succeed next year. |

1st - West Brom
They've got a quality squad and came extremely close this season. They look set to lose Kamara but if they can keep Koumas, Davies etc and Phillips can stay fit they should be right up there. 2nd - Sheffield United Extremely unlucky to go down. Until West Ham's late run, I thought they were the best of the three promoted teams. If they can make a few new signings to replace their losses I think they'll be heading back up. 3rd - Southampton They know what needs to be done to get back in the EPL. They came close but were unlucky (lost on pens). They've got a good following and a good manager, so I think they'll be up through the playoffs. I hope Charlton don't come back up, geez I can't stand them. Don't think Watford will come back either, they'll do well just to get a playoff spot I think. |

I will go for:
Charlton - As much as i hate to praise the [beep!], i think Pardew has developed a great relationship with the fans, board and players at Charlton and seems to have instilled a strong belief that an immediate return to the big time is imminent and has managed to keep the core of the squad, minus Darren Bent, together and has secured the signings of some promising players. As better as the Premiership is without Pardew, i think that he may be returning next season. Southampton - Burley is a class manager and knows the league very well now as shown by Southampton's near miss last season. With him at the helm and a similar core to the squad with the likes of Skacel, Pele, Bialkowski, Rasiak and a few new arrivals i think they are more than capable. Particularly if they can secure the signing of Pole Saganowski who was instrumental to them in the run in to the end of last season. Wolves - My sort of dark horses for he upcoming season. I believe McCarthy is a very capable manager at this standard and he currently has a squad with a great mix of youth and experience that have the ability to compete with the very best in this division. I would have selected West Brom, but i believe that further unsettlement of players at the Hawthorns will continue this Summer and a number of star players may depart. But if they do manage to keep hold of he likes of Phillips, Koumas, Gera and Kamara to a lesser extent they will be right up there i feel. |

1. Charlton
2. Leicester 3. Wolves although I hope not hate majority of the fans and McCarthy. Cant see Southampton even reaching play offs especialy with their financial state. Think Hull could prove to be a dark horse dont write them off for promotion. |

Why thank you! Anyway, I'm going to admit I actually like Sheffield Wednesday and think you could make the top 6 next season! Great ground, good fans and a decent team and manager. |

How's Hillsbrough pulled up, mate?

Yeah I've always had a soft spot for Wednesday too for some reason, think it was because of their kit years ago.
Good to see the Steel City derby back on too, I hope they turn the blades over nicely. With regards to promotion, I reckon: 1. Charlton - Pardew to continue working well from where he left off this season. 2. Wolves - Always the nearly boys, but I think will push on under big Mick. 3. Saints - Almost did it this year but faded, will come up but go straight back down again...probably. |

1st - Charlton - providing that it doesn't take any new players too long to gel, i think pardew will guide them straight back to the promised land.
2nd - Watford - Think thier players will have gainned ots of experience from thier year in the prem, providing they can find a decent keeper they won't be far away. play off winner - impossible to predict but i think maybe preston. Have a sneaking suspiction that norwich won't be far away this year as well. |

What do people rate Cardiff's chances this year, after bolting out in front last season before fizzling out....do you see them repeating this, but maybe sustaining the form?

At the moment we have spent no money, but we have a lot more depth in our squad. Which is why we faded away last year. Jones wants to sign another 3 players, a wide player, a goalkeeper and a striker. I think if we do this, we have a good chance, although I would be suprised if we flew off like we did last year, but I expect the same sort of style to be played. Keep the ball on the floor and pass and move at a high tempo.
If the three new boys that are here now can provide to be good signings and the new three other players, yes we can go up. If not, we will be in the same situation as last year. |

In no particular order; Leicester City, Sheffield United and West Brom going up with Norwich City finishing below half-way and below Ipswich Town! |

I fancy Wolves and Charlton to go up automatic as for the playoffs i really dont know the league gets harder to predict every season.Every team can beat each other in the championship.
ummmm hard one |
Some good teams in this league but as always a surprise team will emerage I think that Wolves and saints will give a good account of themselfs and the playoffs could be where the surprise package might come from as i think Again Preston might throw there two pennys worth in but as I suport The Clarets(Burnley) I will say they might be the spanner in the works for this season..
Thank You For Your Time.....The EDGE. |
