Most things that happen in football, cease to have desired explainations. However shocking the decision of the Real Madrid board to axe former coach Fabio Capello, the fans will just have to get over it-which they evetually will.
Coaches come, coaches go.Ultimately, people who sit in the boardroom dictates the running and future of the club. It's up to the fans to decide whether their loyalty for the club is for real or otherwise. Hats off to former coach Fabio Capello,my respect for him has just went up another level. What he did for the club in this one year, would not have been possible with simply any coach. From shaking up the dressing room,to grounding the stars, building up the team spirit, and winning a title in a club whose trophy cupboard dried up 4 years ago? No word can express my gratitude to this coach. Thanks a lot.I for one as a fan, will not forget what you've done in this one memorable season. The ongoing debate on whether Real Madrid won it,or Barcelona lost it,it doesn't matter.Next season, new challenge, new game. Now,for the honorable don-Don Calderon. It's actually a risk from my point of view what he's getting at.At times it seems to me he knows what he's doing, but sometimes,I'm really at a loss.Firstly, congratulations on winning 3 trophies in the first year of presidency-ie,La Liga,ULCB Cup,ACB Cup,it's a "pretty good" achievement.Where he leads the club from here, will decide the fate of his presidency. To be honest,it should be mentioned, former president Perez, did a pretty good job till the last phase of his presidency.Cleared the club's debts, established postive income, winning trophies and signing the world's best players of their time, pretty decent if you ask me.Only towards the end he kinda lost his way,got mixed up in the football department when all he should have focused on,was getting the right people to do it and run them.Calderon seems to leave most of the footballing issues to Mijatovic-who was a former player at Real Madrid himself. He runs the show from the boardroom, signing new sponsers, meeting the delagates, etc. I see no point in criticizing the president any further. The first year of his presidency went pretty well, lets see how he plans to carry the club foward from here.Fans are fickle minded-least 90% of them-continue winning, and they'll forgive you for anything. It's true that losing Capello would seriously hinder the club's chances of moving foward, but who knows? The football is round, anything goes.Barcelona have certainly shown their intent on regaining the League title by signing Henry from Arsenal.A wounded animal is a very dangerous one.The ball's now in Real Madrid's court,it's up to us to do it. Thanks for the replies, will kinda change this post to discuss more on Los Merengues.Any opinions on the club, free to bring them up. |

yeah perez did a very good job in my opinion. i liked him a lot. he was the president when we were the best team in the world (by a long way it must be said).
calderon may have had a good first season, but that may have only been because he didn't have the time to [beep!] everything up for us. now he's been there longer he's had more time to change things (not for the better). getting capello was great, but then he went and sacked him. if capello's style wasn't exciting/attacking enough, then why appoint him in the first place? |

Why has the tittle of the thread been changed?
no idea.

surprise surprise, we've appointed schuster as manager. what do ya think about that?
It's fine I guess.
Let's see how he manages it. |
It must as be just as hard on the new manager as it is for Capello being sacked. Because surely anything less than the league again will surely be deemed as a huge failure?
Schuster is in for a hard time. If he dose not win the league he'll get fired & if he dose win the league he'll get fired.
basically he needs the Champions League.
Schuster could get fired much earlier if the team isn't convincingly competitive for all titles until Xmas.
Don't exagerate, people.
Capello was sacked because he played deffensive (except in the last matches) and that's an style we don't like in Spain. It's true he won La Liga and that's why I shouldn't have sacked him, but it's not fair that you say he was sacked "because he won". If Schuster wins La Liga and plays a nice football I'm sure he'll stay. |
well what about del bosque? he didn't play boring football. explain that one?
It's not that easy though, Capello played the way he knew and it worked. Other managers have played attacking and not won, and still been sacked. It's ridiculous and the policy doesn't really endear neutrals to Real Madrid either... |

are we talking about Capello or Del Bosque? Cause you guys don't make up your minds
I don't support any of those decisions, but in the case of Capello, it has a more or less acceptable explanation: he made a boring team. But he didn't promise good football, he just promised a tittle and that's why he should have stayed. In the case of Del Bosque, it was totally ashaming, he was sacked for no reason even if Florentino said it was because we needed "fresh air" |
yeah del bosque's sacking was one of the worst decisions the club has ever made.
sure, they actually had a proper reason to sack capello, but i don't think that anywere near a good enough reason. especially as we were playing very exciting football towards the end of the season. |
Capello is worldwide known cause of his boring but competitive teams, who make most fans sleep but win the trophies. He did exactly what he was supposed to do, if the board wasnt satisfied, why they signed him for a begining?
Totally agree mate
Its true that there was a valid reason for sacking Capello but Del Bosque was a frightening decision.
If Capello was brought in to deliver La Liga, playing football of any kind, then I can understand his frustration & the board already have 1st hand experience of Capello from his 1st stint in charge. Its all about merging success with beautiful football & I think the best manager for that is Arsene Wenger. |
Most of Madrid fans don't like Wenger, basically cause he said in 2001, after we signed Zidane: "Real Madrid seems a circus, they won't win the UCL in at least other 32 years". We won it again the next year
So, he can stay in his circus, I don't want him. |
