Just wondering what everyone's favourite European league is and why. Is the English Premiership generally considered to be the best in most people's opinion, as most people who I speak to seem to think so.

^^^ Interesting because the results nobody can even think of. They can happen only in your dreams...And yet they really happen. It's fixed. My favourite league is Italian.

My favourites are the Premiership and La Liga i cant chose out of those as La Liga has the best attacking football but the Premiership is the best all round league and the league i follow most.

I presume thats the Swedish league Rubarth?
What other league is it similar to would you say, who are the good, bad & ugly teams in the league.
And apologies if this sounds anorak-ish, but what are their footy kits like, any examples you could post?

Oh, sorry. Yes, yes that is correct.

It's pretty hard to say wich teams are the strongest since it depends every year, take a look at this for example.

Champions

2000 - Halmstad BK
2001 - Hammarby IF
2002 - Djurgårdens IF
2003 - Djurgårdens IF
2004 - Malmö FF
2005 - Djurgårdens IF
2006 - Elfsborgs IF

It's almost a new champ every year, though Djurgården have done well the last couple of years I have to admit, they are my team, AIKs, worst rivals so it's hard for me to admit.

For the moment Halmstad BK is first when we have almost the half of the season left to play, with Elfsborg behind. Elfsborg beat hungarians Debrecen in the Champions League qualification last night with 0-1, so they have a good chance to getting to the final stage, but they will need to have luck in the draw and play the game of their life if they are to succeed.

But if we look at the history the main clubs in Sweden are:

AIK
Djurgårdens IF
Malmö FF
IFK Göteborg

I include Djurgården since they have been very well in the 2000's, though the 'three classic' is AIK, Malmö and Göteborg.

The 'loser' teams are clubs like.

Hammarby IF
GAIS
Örgryte IS (in later years)
Kalmar FF

For the moment the best teams are Djurgården, Elfsborg, Halmstad and Hammarby. But as I said the league is real tight.

And yes, here are som shirts for the teams.

It's pretty late now, take those for long. I will update in the Allsvenskan thread later, and I apologise if I stole this thread.

Brilliant, thanks Rubarth.

I can't look at those kits at the moment as I'm at work, and the system won't allow me so I will check later at home.

Thats a great write up of the teams there, I remember IFK Goteborg as I believe they beat Dundee United in a UEFA Cup Final in or around '87 - I have a soft spot for the Arabs, hence me remembering!

I must admit I didn't realise there was a Allsvenskan thread so I will dig that up, its my fault really if this thread has been taken over...oops. But no one has died so I am sure it is okay.

Thanks again Rubath, appreciate all the info there Smile

I am really liking the AIK black & yellow kit - I see the guy in your avatar is sporting it, who is he?

You won't like me saying this but I'm well impressed also with the Djurgården blue & black kit, very smart.

And another Adidas kit for IFK Goteborg that looks good too - their classic blue & white stripes.

Thanks for putting these up to look at, great stuff Smile
