I think he will make a great addition to our squad. Moyes really has an eye for potential. Another AJ success story.....

He's not going to Sunderland, it seems, but according to Sky, Pompey are top of the list now.

Maybe, but he'd well rather be at Everton.

understand Everton is his hometown team. If Everton really did make a decent bid for him, guess he will choose to be at Goodison..... But I wonder how Moyes intends to play him??? He looks to have similar qualities with AJ, both are fast and neither appear to fit the profile of a center forward.

It is very possible that if we don't buy Nugent this summer , and at the moment Moyes is reluctant to meet Preston's valuation ; then Nugent will stay at Preston for another year and........

either Preston will be forced to sell him at a cheaper price in January or he'll leave on a free next summer .

By not getting involved in a bidding war , we might have to wait either 6 or 12 months , but we'll save a fortune .

All Nugent has to do is sit tight and refuse to sign elsewhere .

Wink you heard it here first .

Laughing what a goof.
We could of offered £20m but that would of been real silly now wouldn't it?

Cool

What a tw*t!!!

We are a prudent club and spend within our budget. We are quite happy being low profile instead of being a jack*ss and pay 20mil for a player that will likely fail in the EPL.

By the way, Liverpool has spent sh*teloads of money the last few seasons, which player have you guys actually sign/sold and made money from????

Chill 4Everton .

Just wallow in the fact that you are an Evertonian , and no matter what the team on the field , you can always be proud of the moral fibre of the club that you support .

We conduct ourselves with integrity at all times , no Lawrenson scenarios in our history Wink .

I cant understand why you lot didnt go for the guy big time. He was gaggin' to play for you as he was a lifelong fan yet you wouldn't stump up the 6mill needed. When's your next payment of the Rooney deal comin' in?

He's simply not worth £6m so why pay that much? So I don't think the payment from Rooney will have anything to do, or help with it. Moyes is being sensible unlike some managers paying over the odds at the moment.

Well said Bluenose, he is not worth £6 million and no player without proven experience in a major top flight league is. Once again, it is showing Everton as a club that has not only the greatest soul in Great Britain, but also a healthy sized brain. If he turns out to be a runaway success at Portsmouth, well good for them, but you have to admit they are taking a gamble.

Well, we might get him later on. Let him prove himself in the premiership first. We may have to pay abit more but we rather be prudent than spend 6mil on a raw talent. But am rather concerned that we have yet to add to the squad after jagielka....

We need to add depth if we were to make any significant progress for next season. esp wif UEFA commitment. I hope we have a good cup run and finish in the top six again. Go Toffees!!!!!

Hang on. How much did you waste on Beattie? Beattie had one good season with Southampton but you still splashed the cash & look where it got you. Nugent is a quality striker & a life long Everton fan yet you wouldnt sign a player that would give his heart and soul for the club in each and every game? That to me is rather silly.

Never mind hey, Im sure them FREE signings will show how much they're worth to your club.

So if someone supports the club pay over the odds? I don't think so! And even if we did buy him you wouldn't be saying he was a quality stiker. Remember, you said once that AJ wouldn't even score or something along them lines. Embarassed

Well, beattie may not have shown anything yet but things may just turn around. So far he has proven to be a poor signing but he is only one of the couple of bad signings moyes has made. Unlike some other clubs (i.e: the other side of town) who spent tons on a number of signings and then offload them at a lost after one or two seasons....

Thus far, DM has proven to be very good in spotting talents and has done far better than most managers in transfers. Especially considering the fact that he never really had any significant budget to work with.

Plus , I was talking to an ex player the other day and he said that we were totally skint . The Jagielka deal dragged on for so long because we were trying to finance it . We just don't have the money to buy all these players , and Kenwright isn't prepared to borrow recklessly .
