I'm going to put a few quid on Seville this year, they seem be a really great cup side who have proven they can beat the best teams around.

I would be worried about them loosing some of there best players in the transfer window tho.

If they lose Alves and don't find a good replacement the whole balance of the team could be lost. Bouhlahrouz is certainly a very different player and it would mean the team's midfield would have to produce a lot more plays to make up for Alves' contribution up front. But i hope they can do it.

But with big guns like Barca, ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool and maybe Real (i'm saying maybe cause they made some transfers but also lost some key players) looking stronger than last season, it will be a tough job. I don't think Inter are up to the job and AC Milan haven't made any transfers yet (but will have Ronaldo playing in Europe), so it doesn't look good for the Italian clubs this time, but then again that's what we said last season (especially when Inter found themselves out of the competition).

A small amount on Sevilla (at 21/1 -- current Ladbrokes odds) is not a bad bet though. Same odds as Arsenal, actually.

Ladbrokes odds:

Barcelona 5.50
Chelsea 7.00
Manchester Utd 7.00
Milan 9.00
Real Madrid 9.00
Inter 11.00
Liverpool 13.00
Lyon 17.00
Arsenal 21.00
Sevilla 21.00
Valencia 21.00
Roma 26.00
Lazio 34.00
Schalke 34.00
Stuttgart 34.00
Werder Bremen 41.00
Porto 51.00
Benfica 101.00
Sporting Lisbon 101.00
Celtic 126.00
Rangers 151.00
Elfsborg 501.00
Rosenborg 501.00

Roma at 26/1 and Liverpool at 13/1 are also good bets, imo. Maybe Valencia too, at 21/1, provided they keep Villa. They got players like Helguera, Hildebrand, Alexis, Arizmendi and 19yo Mata, so they'll be stronger and more prepared for the challenges of La Liga and the CL.

i think maybe Milan again. Iv not really taken to much notice of the foreign clubs business this summer due to working so much, but think Milan might go far again. Thought United would have done it last season, maybe they would have if hadnt have won the league, but dont think they will this season.

That doesn't make sense. At the beginning of last season no-one gave us a chance for any title. This time ManU has just about enough manpower to dominate in England and possibly Europe and you don't think we will this season? I'm not saying we will, but comparatively speaking we do have more of a chance, don't we? Unless you're basing your prediction on a hunch, rather than facts, which is something i'm guilty of myself occasionally.

Also, i'd be hugely surprised if AC Milan could repeat this year's feat. They'll want to concentrate on winning their league this time, to stop their city rivals from dominating again, so since they have not made any significant transfers yet i can't see how they can challenge in both competitions. Impossible! Ronaldo is playing well and Inzaghi always scores a few in the CL, but i just don't see it happening.

im not saying that as a dig. Its just what i think.

Last season i thought UNited would win the Champs League. However as they were still firing in the league they found it harder to concentrate on two competitions. They have since improved but so have alot of teams. I just dont think they will win it this season. I think Chelsea or AC Milan will. Dont take that as an insult to your team. I thinkBarcelona are the best team in the world but prob will not win it.

but to be fair, Liverpool want to do the same, mount a title challenge, but we all know they prob wont. We strangely have more chance of getting to the champs league final. IF you look over recent Champs League finals, the best teams have not always been there. Liverpool (x2) Arsenal, Porto.

I didn't take it as a dig. But if we're strictly talking about the start of the season, i still find your opinion a bit strange. I mean, how could you consider us probably CL winners at the beginning of the 2006/07 season?! We were weaker than we are now.

i no it does seem strange, but thats just what i think. I could be very wrong and you go and win it comfortably. I just dont think you will this season.

I think i'm not communicating my point very well. I'll say it once more and then leave it at that.

I'm not talking about your opinion regarding our chances THIS year. I am talking about your quite bizarre opinion this time LAST YEAR that we could probably win it, when it was obvious we had no real depth on the bench and not enough firepower up front.

Hope that was clearer.

yes that is clear. I just thought you could.

As i have stated before now you do not need to be one of the best teams around to win the Champions League. Yes i thought United were a quality outfit but they suprised me last season with how well they played. I thought they were going to be more succesful in Europe rather than domesticly as thought Chelsea would rinse up again therfore leaving UNited to concentrate more on the Champs League.

Hm, why not Valencia? I don't know at this moment though, there is still time left for me to decide though.

Chelsea in Champions League is overrated. Like England when talking about International competitions.

I also feel/hope that Milan should start that damn and of an era. 3 finals with 2 victories and 1 semifinal in CL since 2003 is a huge result, and it's time that they'd quit the scene. Tho im kinda surey they'd reach easily atleast the quarters/semifinals even this year.

Barcelona and Manchester United are defo the favourites on the paper. I don't think Milan can do it again, I really hope to see a Roma-Milan in the quarter or semi-finals Twisted Evil

That's because despite being new the CL, they are a better team, and have been far more successful of late.

If they lose Alves and Ramos (the manager) then they will be fooked though. Without them, then i think they could slide back down to a mid table team.
