Liverpool Football Club will play their reserve team matches at The Halliwell Jones Stadium next season.

The Champions League finalists have struck an initial one-year deal with Warrington Wolves RLFC that will allow The Halliwell Jones to host all nine of their home matches during the 2007/08 Barclays Premier Reserve League (North) campaign, with the possibility of further friendly and cup games at the venue.

A provisional fixture list will be in next week's Warrington Guardian and the likes of Manchester United and Everton will face Gary Ablett's side at the stadium, which successfully hosted football at Women's Euro 2005.

There is even the possibility of Premier League stars making appearances, with first-teamers sometimes given reserve games on their return from injury
Wolves director of commercial development Dave Hutchinson secured the deal, which will see the Reds' second string switch from Wrexham's Racecourse Ground to Warrington.

This is great news! I only live about two miles from The Halliwell Jones stadium so i'll be going to a few of these games, I can take my boy aswell.

There's a massive Liverpool following here in Warrington so i expect some good attendances. The Liverpool contingent were out in force on Champions League final night. the pubs were packed and everyone was singing all the Liverpool anthems.

Too many Mancs though here in Warrington, probably slightly more United fans than Liverpool fans. The Liverpool v united game should be interesting, they'll probably have to be some sort of segregation.
