Helsingborg is [beep!], Henrik Larsson is now just a pussy as he falls in the box like a leaf. At least he did that against us, but we won anyway Smile.

But I think AIK, Helsingborg and Hammarby is advancing, Häcken though will fail.

Anyone who supports Cluj in here? Former AIK defender Niklas Sandberg plays there.

Young Boys - Lens looks like a interesting game though.

I don't know how difficult tickets are to come by at Drogheda, but I may try and get along and see some Swedish footy first hand!
Actually having said that, as Larsson plays for them it'll probably be a sell out - he is big over here because of the Celtic connection.
I can but try tho...

Another fixture that caught my eye was Hajduk Split v Sampdoria.....only because we beat Split on route to our '84 UEFA Cup triumph, and Sampdoria because of the Souness, Francis, Walker, Platt connections Smile
Actually who was the bald eagle fella who played for them, went on to play for Palace?

I dont have much interest in it but im keeping an eye on Drogheda while theyre still in it. Cork played Djurgardens a few years back and beat them so Drogs should have a good chance

Cork also beat Malmö FF, but the only reason was that the swedish sides underestimated them. I can't find no other answer, I'm pretty sure that Helsingborg will advance, but you never know their team is in somewhat of bad situation right now.

Got a ticket sorted today for the Drogheda v Helsingborg game, its being played in North Dublin at Bohemian's ground - can't really see them getting past the Swedes, but you never know. And looking forward to my first taste of Swedish footy Very Happy

Well a brilliant 1-1 draw for plucky Drogheda against Helsingborgs on Friday night.
The Swedes looked slick despite the scoreline I thought, and to be honest I can't see the Irish getting much in the return leg.
Henrik Larsson got a pretty good reception, and there was a small band of supporters behind the goal in their Celtic shirts who went bandy when he netted in the first half.
I have to admit I left the ground early for another pint in the Bohemian's round the corner so I missed the equaliser, but a nice little boost for the Meath team though they will have to cross a lot more than their fingers to get through to the next round.

Yep popped my Swedish cherry

They looked classy compared to Drogheda, and I don't mean that disrespectfully to the Irish. A brilliant result for them, but I can see Helsingborg going to town in the return leg.

One Cypriot team did very well; Anorthosis beat the Romanian side Cluj (not a traditionally strong side, but they have 6-7 times the budget of Anorthosis and the other top Cypriot teams and they consider themselves title contenders in Romania) 1-3! And the only goal they scored came after a shocking penalty decision. I think Anorthosis won't have problems sealing the deal in Cyprus.

Also, Omonia only managed a 1-1 draw in Cyprus against CSKA Sofia. Not a good result, but it doesn't completely rule them out either. I don't think they can beat CSKA in Bulgaria though.

I expect the Greek teams Panathinaikos and AEK (who are going to be eliminated from the CL by Sevilla, even though they only lost 2-0 in Spain) to do fairly well in the competition. Maybe one of them can reach the quarterfinals, with some luck.

If you saw Maccabi Tel-Aviv earlier this season you;d know this result isnt shocking.
In the previous round they lost to a team from Andora!!!! It was the 1st time ever an Andorian team wins a european match.
Maccabi have 1 point of 2 games in the league and they just fired their coach with no1 to replace him still, they had no coach on the lines today.
As a Haifa fan this is very fun for me because they are considered our no.1 rival, kinda like Celtic and Rangers only smaller.

Go Kayserieciyesspor! Smile Smile Smile

I'm watching Belchatow - Dnepr now, the score is 2:4 after the first half, Dnepr looks very nice, but defence sometimes puts in a spot. First leg - 1:1.
