We have sunderland away on the opening day of the season, with all the injuries we have, jono posted them on Tottenham signings in the tansfer rumours and team news bit, i was wondering what team u guys would put out against roy keanes black cats

mine would be

Cerny

Chimbonda
Kaboul
Dawson
Rocha

Taarat
Jenas
Zokora

Kenae

Berbatov
Bent

a 4-3-1-2 with keane sitting just behind strikers but infront of the 3 centre mids, could b quite effective me feels.

What u guys think and give us a reason why u chose them? ta

Disagree, I think Taarabt should play that role behind the strikers but basing himself on the left of midfield.

________Robbo

Chimmy Kaboul Daws Rocha

Jenas Tainio Zokora Taarabt

_____Bent Berbatov.

No need to ditch our tried and trusted 4-4-2 system now. It will be a hard fought match up there and we need solidity in midfield, not three strikers getting in the way of each other.

Jenas obvious chice on the right with Lennon out, does well out there and lets Tainio play in his preferred role in the middle of the park.

Is a close call between Bent and Keane to start but I feel away from home against a team like Sunderland, Bents power and pace is what we need.

i dont think those 3 will get in the way berbs and keane doing what they did last season dropping a bit deaper to pick up the ball and bent on the shoulder of defences, i dont think bent would get in they way at all,

i think cerny deserves a chance whenever he played last season he seemed really solid so i think he deserves a chance.

.................Robbo....................

Chimbo...Dawson...Kaboul...Rocha/Gardener

Jenas...Zokora...Tainio/Hudd...Taarabt

.........Berbatov...Keane.............

Jono's pretty much right but i think bringing Bent on as a sub roughly on the hour mark would be a good idea as their defence will be a bit nakkered.

last seasons pre season we played 4-3-3 with berbs keane and defoe and that worked extremely well just jol decided not to go for that type of formation which annoyed defoe.

Robinson
Chimbonda rb
Rocha lb
Dawson cb
Kaboul cb
Malbranque lm
Taabart cm
Zokora cm
lennon rm
Berbatov
keane

I would go with the tried and trusted in Berbatov and Keane and If I were Jol I'd play bent on Tuesday. Also I would have JJ on the bench as with zokora he is a more defensive player but can also make bursting runs forward and in the young French maestro he is such a gem of a player he could well be the link between midfield and attack for Tottenham this season. Still though despite some injury problems its some side to have out and the attacking players are formidable and sunderland will have to be at there best to get a result on saturday.

Thats a blow in that case I may play Taabart on the right Malbranque on the left and through the centre JJ and Zokora. Lennon out is a blow then how long is he out for?

It will be interesting to see who Jol picks to partenr Berbs, if it was at home or against some midtable team id have Keane but for some reason I think we will need the power of Bent.

Oh and Yobbo, your Cerny idea sunk like a sack of bricks. Bad idea. He isnt good enough, Robbo mgiht not have been on top form last season but hes still a [beep!] load better than Cerny.

I am intrigued to see what Jol goes with up front - they have all had a good pre-season & netted a few goals between them.
Can't wait...

i think berbs and keane with bent coming off the bench about 65mins

i think bent will have a better debut coming on fresh against a newly promoted team who will b a bit tired and therefore his pace might b too much,

i think whoever he picks theyll b gd enuf it all depends whether the defence holds up.

Do you fancy our chances first game?

It was the one fixture I would have preferred to avoid to be honest, they will be well up for it.
Having said that, I am quietly confident we will come away with something...

It will be a tough match for sure, Keane wil have them amping for it and the crowd will be behind them from the get-go.

I hope we can get three points from it.

in all fairness i think we can win not sure if we will like last season we didnt start well.

tbh i would have been more worried facing derby coz there a more smash and nash team like Bolton and we struggled t reebok last season.

I know its going to be tough but im confident of a 2-0 victory. Both goals will come in the second half where we will be the team with most energy and experience to finish em off.

We'll do it. COYS.

so much is going to depend on our defence

we've got plenty of options in attack, but no point in scoring 2 if we leak 3

News from Spurs training today.

Team against Sunderland will be same as last saturdays, Bent on bench, Keane to start. Malbranque on left.

Mido didnt train with first team.

Ghaly training on his own with one trainer.

Bale out for one more week.

Lennon out for 5 more weeks.

King running, may be back sooner than thought, maybe 5 weeks, probably more.

The opening game!
