Becks has made his debut for LA Galaxy. They were 1-0 down to DC United and had him than the gamejust been reduced to 10 men when they brought him on for last 20 minutes or so.
It could have been a fairytale ending, but ended 1-0 still.

TV spent more time watching him than the game Laughing

He barely plays. It's obvious they bought him for appearance and merchandising. And still people don't care. They're like, Oh Beckham is here, well ok then whatever. And they go about their business and not give a crap.

Crazy how there is a 'Beckham Cam' to watch him dance around mid field like a tart.

They have a "Skycam" on Sky Sports which concentrates on a different player every 15 minutes or so (for those that want it), but I've never seen them use it on someone on the bench Laughing

I wonder how good this league actually is! I am not convinced Beckham will be able to keep the pace though not playing in Europe

So in his first 2 starts, he scored a goal and got a few assists. When is the next game? Or has it already been played?

What did he do?

I was there for that game!!! GO RED AND BLACK (D.C. United). ROFL

It was a complete sellout, and I figured a lot of people wouldn't show up due to the fact that it was pouring rain and there was no guarantee Beckham would play. However, I was quite shocked to see the amount of people that actually came out and sat in the rain just to get 20 minutes of Beckham mania.

There were a lot of hot girls walking around the stands that night. <3 bahahahaha.

Unfortunately the MLS is probably comparable to The Coca Cola Championship. There have been strides made to make the competition better by bringing in more foreign players, but it's still way down in the pecking order when it comes to the top leagues in the world.

The Beckham rule as the media calls it was a big step in making the MLS more competitive. It allows each team to have one designated player that is beyond/not included in the current salary cap. The salary cap for each club is $2million for all players on the roster. This was put in so the MLS wouldn't fail like the previous North American Soccer League (NASL) where individual owners went beyond their means to bring in star players from around the globe. They soon found themselves in debt and the league folded in 1984.

Each team will initially receive one Designated Player slot, and clubs are allowed to trade Designated Player slots. However, no team can have more than two Designated Players.

SuperLiga; new tournament setup by the MLS and Mexico's Primera División. Tournament debuted in 2007 with four teams being invited from both leagues. Modeled after the UEFA Champions League. However with the amount of teams in the SuperLiga. There's 2 groups, 4 teams each (2 from each league). Top 2 teams in the groups advance to the knockout stage. In the knockout stage, it's you lose you're out. No home and away fixtures. The winner of the tournament is awarded $1,000,000.
