England squad to tour USA:
Goalkeepers: Robert Green (Norwich), Scott Carson (Liverpool), David James (Manchester City); Defenders: Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Matthew Upson (Birmingham), Wes Brown (Manchester United), Gary Neville (Manchester United), Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Phil Neville (Manchester United), Glen Johnson (Chelsea); Midfielders: Jermaine Jenas (Newcastle), Stewart Downing (Middlesbrough), David Beckham (Real Madrid), Michael Carrick (Tottenham), Joe Cole (Chelsea), Owen Hargreaves (Bayern Munich), Shaun Wright-Phillips (Manchester City); Strikers: Alan Smith (Manchester United), Michael Owen (Real Madrid), Peter Crouch (Southampton), Andrew Johnson (Crystal Palace), Jermain Defoe (Tottenham). Southampton striker Peter Crouch has been named in the England's squad to tour the USA for matches against the hosts and Colombia this summer. Tottenham midfielder Michael Carrick has also been called up, while there is a recall for Crystal Palace striker Andrew Johnson. Liverpool's Scott Carson will join fellow goalkeepers Robert Green and David James as first-choice stopper Paul Robinson joins the list of regulars rested. Birmingham defender Matthew Upson and United centre-half Wes Brown will contest the central-defensive berth and Sol Campbell will hope to re-establish himself in the position with John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Ledley King all left out. Blues forward Emile Heskey has been left out by Sven-Goran Eriksson, Rooney_79586.shtml'>Wayne Rooney has been rested as expected but Manchester United team-mate Alan Smith will travel, as will Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe. Captain David Beckham, Real Madrid colleague Michael Owen and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves will all miss the first fixture against the USA but will join up to face Colombia. Not sure that counts at International level in friendlies mate - Maybe for Competitive matches he would be suspended!

friendlies are a crock anyway, Sven plays players out of position and doesn't utilise them well, the best thing to do is play half the first team and half not in the first half, and in the scond half, bring in the other players who aren't part of the first team.
