I knew that our lack of a squad would catch up on us eventually, since the start of the season we have been playing a striker on the right wing, a right winger on the left wing, and a right winger and a center half in midfield, simply because we just haven't got the players, but we have been getting results, and I think that it was the lack of midfield, particularly in the second half, that lost us the game.
In general, I don't think that we played too bad, and were much the better team in the first half. Ricardo Fuller scored a fantastic goal to give us the lead before Southampton equalized with an unstoppable goal from Surman, an absolute belter that came out of nowhere.
Southampton looked like a totally different team in the second half and really took the game to Stoke, and deserved to be leading 3-1 with further goals from Rasiak and Viafara, but Stoke came back, substitute Jon Parkin pulled a goal back, but it was too late, Southampton probably just about deserved the win.
We desperately need to get some players in this week though, the transfer window is on friday and with a more balanced team, with players playing in their correct positions, we probably could have won today.
