Back on topic eh lads.
I haven't seen the show personally but i have seen a few of his comments on the Internet and featured in FourFourTwo and it seems to me like the show is obviously far more entertaining than the likes of MOTD but as Forev said i think Dunphy might be playing up to the whole controversial thing now. |

How on earth did this thread become a Rio Ferdinand discussion forum??
Oh, theres a surprise... As for Mr Dunphy I personally can't stomach him. I find he is just one of Harry Enfield's whinging "Old Gits" who courts controversy just for the sake of it.
...whether he's had a drink or not more like. |

I think Baresi, Beckenbauer, Maldini, Nesta and even Alan Hansen (off the top of my head, lots more if I were to really think about it) would have something to say about that.... |

And quite obviously Moore. team mates and opponents alike have put him up as the very best. (and that was before his death).
besides which, as Sparkster pointed out, how on earth does this thread about a drunken paddy turn into a chat about Rio Ferdinand? its amazing. |

Dunphy is a clown, but as others have said he can be a bit of a laugh.
At least the RTÉ boys aren't up their own ass', and know how to relax and have a laugh at the game. |

Maybe I'm wrong, as I've not watched it for as long as some of you guys, but from what I have seen its the exact opposite to how you describe it there? I find it very stiff - Johnny Giles in his Sunday best "shiny" silver suit, where he has obviously been told to smarten up. He looks like discomfort personified in his starched collar a la Harry Hill, and seems to me to use the same negative soundbites for every game he comments on. You can almost smell the Brut. Liam Brady, again clearly unconfortable slumped to one side, dreary and monotoned, unable to have a discussion as if he's not agreed with he looks the other way, talking over whoever disagrees. He slurs his speach and no doubt believes he comes across as laid back, for some reason. And Eamon Dunphy is, well Eamon Dunphy. Just says whatever he feels may get quoted in the next days papers. Like I say it may not be a fair assesment as I haven't watched it for as long, just my opinion on what I've seen. |

Reality is Kaka.
That was funny the way he dropped that line. |

I love how every thread ends up as a debate between sticky and spus about rio-no matter what the topic is!
But Dunphy-some of his opinions are mental but at least he has some.sometimes you watch 10 minutes of punditry with people like Shearer and Redknapp and they don't even say anything really. Loved Dunphy's shout on Garth Crooks and Eriksson interviews though! |

That's exactly what he does, it's his way of stirring things up and getting a reaction. I seriously doubt he believes some of the things he says but says them anyway to provoke a counter argument. He might be a p1sshead but he's a character and not some anodyne pundit who's nothing controversial to say. |

I don't think I could take RTÉ too regularly. It's a bit embarassing at times, but if you want a general [beep!]-take off the weekend's football controversies, then RTÉ is the channel for you.
I don't have RTÉ, only on the digital downstairs. I watch MOTD all the time, but it's rubbish now too. Hansen gets worse by the moment and Motson make me cry. |

This guy cracks me up. Before the Man U game they looked at the Barca lineup and said their defence is 'shockingly poor', Marquez 'is a disaster waiting to happen' and they will be exposed as a really poor defence when they come up against a good team.
Correct me if I'm wrong but is Puyol not one of the top defenders in the world, Abidal up there with the best left backs and Marquez and Milito just good solid players |
||||||||
|
|
|||||||||
|
To be fair Marquez isnt a solid defender at all, hes always got the potential to make a mistake, not barca quality anyway.
Puyol is overrated imo, hes never done anything outstanding when ive seen him. I havent seen much of th other two this season so I cant really comment In saying that though, Dunphy - as usual - goes way over the top with his reaction. He always has to be overdramatic and have extreme views on everything |

He's really been hammering his best friend or former best friend I should say Roy Keane alot this season. In his Star colum today he called Keane a "Bullshiter","Politician", & "Mr.Rent a Quote" & advised himt to "button his lip". It was highly amussing.
