The Arsenal side will be switched around a lot obviously and it gives some players the chance to shine like Wenger has always done with this competition.

Likely team from my point of view:

    -------------Fabianski
    Hoyte, Song, Hordtveit, Traoré
    Walcott, Denílson, Diarra, Diaby
    --------Bendtner, Eduardo

Actually quite a strong side. Not convinced on Song though, so Fabianski will face a tough test from the Toon attack.

It's at home, so I think we can actually get the win here despite the weakened side. If the backline doesn't click, Newcastle will get something from the game.

From Arsenal.com:

Arsène Wenger will ring the usual changes for the Carling Cup tie with Newcastle at Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

The Arsenal manager will rest almost all of his first-team regulars to allow squad players and youngsters to hog the limelight. It is a policy he has used with some success in recent years. In three of the last four seasons his side have reached the Semi-Final and, of course, last season they were just pipped to the trophy by a full-strength Chelsea at the Millennium Stadium.

“You will see Bendtner, Diarra and Denilson,” Wenger told Arsenal TV Online when asked about the make-up of the squad. “Maybe Eboue (ankle) will be coming back as well.

“You’ll see Justin Hoyte and Alex Song maybe Eduardo and Diaby. Then there is Armand Traore and Lukasz Fabianski who we have not seen a lot of so far. We have sold out and we will put out a good team. We want to give the opportunity to our fans to see some unfamiliar faces.”

If they play this would be the first start for Diarra and Bendtner while Fabianski would be making his debut.

Nice to see it's sold out, even with reduced admission prices.

And your team selections aren't much different from Wenger's Jamesy Wink

I think Song has been given a lot of confidence after his loan spell, and coming on (although late) in a lot of games won't have harmed his confidence, and that's what he has needed - and don't forget, he only turned 20 2 weeks ago.
Wenger knows he has the makings of a great player - let him sort it Smile
And you were impressed with him at the game we won 6-3 at Liverpool if I remember correctly Wink

I think we may have Gilberto and RVP on the bench, just in case Wink

Yep, team will prob line up something like:

Fabianski

Eboue Hoyte Senderos Traoré

Diarra Song Denílson Diaby

Bendtner Eduardo

Not sure is it'll be Senderos or our new bloke Hordtveit? thinking that because it's a Prem team Wenger may stick Senderos in there.

Would like to see Bendtner and Eduardo have a good game.

Hoping for first clean sheet for Fabianski. He should show Wenger, that we dont need new goalie.

What a game!!

Bendtner scores a header then 30secs after Senderos saves the day with a clearance off the line!

Young guns looking good again. Some of these players would just not make the First team squad. I'm loving it.

Denílson you fkn beauty!?

Young Gooners, class. Smile

2-0 FT - an absolute superb result if I may say so.

Basically a 2nd string Arsenal squad, who play football that's just as beautiful and just as destructive. I could kiss Wenger right now.

I sexed it up.

I was only listening on the radio - but everything I said was an echo of what was being said by the pundits/commentators.

I need to move to London basically.

I know how you feel, I lived in London for years and I didn't support a London team Laughing

Denilson's goal was a screamer, superbly set up by Sagna (i think)

Bendtner's goal was typical of his time at Birmingham, completely unmarked and nodded home calmly

2 - 0!!

That'll do me old moo!!

The important thing about this is the fact we have depth within the Arsenal squad to push for success this season.

I hope we can keep this up.

Played really well by all accounts.

Just seen a bit of highlights on SSNews (at last).

From what they showed, Toon only really came close once, and Denilson's goal (set up by Diaby) was a screamer.
Bendtner had a free header for his goal earlier.

Big Sam had said earlier that Toon should have had 3 goals Confused

Maybe he was watching Cardiff or Liverpool and got confused Very Happy

Also - he was moaning about having to play 2 games since Sunday.
Shame he didn't have Fabianski (making his debut), Traore, Song, Diarra, Bendtner.....
- then maybe some of his team could have had a rest.

Fat Sam is always whinging. i just ignore his boring ramblings.

Oh was it Diaby? they all look the same...

he did well to keep hold of the ball and was strong and it was indeed a blinding finish by Denilson, unstoppable
