Almost time for another potential morale-booster at what seems to be a rather frosty WHL.
Apparently we're making a few changes from the team which faced Bolton the other day: Younes Kaboul, Gareth Bale, Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone and Jermain Defoe come in for Ricardo Rocha, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Steed Malbranque, Didier Zokora and Robbie Keane. So the team should be lining up as follows: Robbo Chimbonda Dawson Kaboul Bale Lennon Jenas Huddlestone Tainio Defoe Berbatov Should be a decent game but I can't find it anywhere on the net. Ah well, I'll have to settle for highlights. |

Yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing Prince get his opportunity - he sounds like a huge talent. I expect players such as Prince and Taarabt would have started this evening had we been playing against lower-league opposition, but I suppose Jol is playing it safe and going for experience. He doesn't really have much freedom to experiment at the moment, as every game is essentially a must-win. Should be interesting to see how Defoe and Berba play together... |

Why the hell is Jol not playing Prince?!?!
Apparently he was superb in the bundesliga last season, and he is older than Taarabt, so he should be playing regularly. Especially when you look at how sh*te Jenas is, and the lack of attacking midfielders they have. |

ye and boateng has played a few rserve games and has ripped them apart with a few goals and a good few assists.
Jenas has missed a good chance where he should of done better |

Yeah, i really don't know what Jol is playing at.
I could possibly understand it if Tottenham were winning, but they aren't, they are losing constantly, so it's not like it's a risk. |

Delighted with this result - the last time I saw Boro at the Lane we were well & truly tonked 3-0 so I am always wary of them.
I haven't seen any highlights yet, but Bale & Huddlestone scored, shortly after Defoe was replaced by Keane (to boo's from the crowd according to Sky Sports) No goals from the strikers, but at this moment in time I don't think we can be too picky where the goals come from, as long as they come. I am sure our front boys will get their acts together soon. |

Saw the highlights last night on TV. The crowed booed because Defoe was playing well before he was taken off. But it proved to be the right choice cause Keane (He came on for Defoe) set up the first goal. Even tho the first goal shouldn't really have stood because Lennon (I think) was clearly offside and allowed Bale to score.
All in all tho Tottenham derseved the win even tho the defence was sh!t. |

i dont get why the yids booed.
ive read that Defoe played well but from what i could see he missed chance after chance. besides the fact that both goals were scored when Keane was on the pitch and Keane himself im pretty sure set one of them up. i can only assume the fans are swallowing the media sh*t and playing right into their hands. as much as Jol has made some sh*t tactical decisions and poor substitutions i fail to see the problem with this one. fickle w@nkers |

This isn't just a chance to have a dig at Spurs but they were very fickle, exactly. They we're booing the Defoe sub for Keane because they felt that he was going to score. Then Keane comes on and set up's the first goal..... then you see at the end of the game Spurs fans clapping Jol!! Really, Jol made the correct choice. |

Have to say I agree - it is fickle.
But haven't we all been guilty of being fickle at one time or another - it is part and parcel of being a football supporter to a degree. Example being there is a clod-hopping donkey of a centre back you don't particularly like. In fact you wish he would leave. He nips up for a corner and nods home an 89th winner against the League Champions - all of a sudden you're cheering, singing his name and he is king (if only for a day) I'm not comparing this directly to what happened last night, only that we all can be fickle at times. |

Defoe wasn't even playing that well. He was unlucky with one effort that was tipped onto the bar and put in a great ball for Taino. His header at the back post was a sitter. Keane or Bent would have buried it. And he acted like a 6 year old when he was brought off.
I don't think that Bales' goal could have been ruled offside. Bale was onside and Lennon was off and Boro claim he ran in front of their defender. If anything the defender ran into Lennon. I just think it was the Boro bench clutching at straws. |

Defoe is a joke.
Robbie Keane is probably your best and most passionate player. I'd say he's more important to the team than even the impressive Berbatov. |

Listening to Talksport after the evenings games, by all accounts many Spurs fans were not too pleased with the general performance. From what i gather a lack of passing was the main poor point.

There's no doutb that Spurs have problems on and off the pitch. But it's not all down to Jol for both situations.
What is necessary is support and faith. And a whole new Defence. |

Oh dear, I just saw the link from last nights game - Defoe certainly had the demeanour of a petulent 6 year-old when he was substituted, that we don't need right now.

Yeah he probably thought that because the crowd were on his side, he could throw a strop and act like a big man. You either score mate - or you [beep!] off!!! |
