Waterford appoint Kerley as manager |
|
Waterford United have unveiled Limerick-born Mike Kerley as their new manager. The appointment follows the club's decision not to renew Brendan Rea's contract. Kerley will take up his new position with immediate effect and will be assisted by Trevor Lovell.
"Mike Kerley is one of the best young managers in the country and we are glad that he has agreed to join us at Waterford United," commented club chairman Martin Colbert. "Mike has the foresight, qualifications and experience to bring Waterford United forward and we look forward to his developing a strong team here at the club." Accepting the position, Kerley said: "This is a great opportunity for myself and Trevor. We know how important football is in Waterford and we will be giving 100% to the job of building the Blues into a team that can challenge for honours. We look forward to meeting the players and bringing our vision for the future to them and to the fans." The 34-year-old has played for Cork City, Kilkenny City and Limerick FC and is currently in the process of studying for a UEFA A coaching badge. |
