Yeah I was impressed with Cyprus going forward tonight, obviously Ireland's tactics had a bit to do with it but they play a good passing game and really deserved to win overall I thought. I switched it off when Cyprus scored so I didnt see Finnans goal but either way it doesnt change the fact that Staunton just isnt good enough

Our manager used to receive a lot of criticism, but after the last 3-4 results i think people here trust him more now.

I think the main reason our team is performing well is because a lot of the players (esp in midfield/attack) have been playing together for many years.

How he got the job in the 1st place I'll never know. Eamon Dunphy for the job!

I wanted to watch Scotland game on BBC2, but had to put up with Wales at San Marino.

2-1 win - fantastic Sad

I believe San Marino got their 16th goal on 83 internationals (mind you - I remember them getting one against England Wink).

I am Welsh, and love my country but..........

There was another very important game tonight: Norway - Turkey.

The Turks beat the Norwegians 1-2 and are now favourites to qualify second in the group (21 points - Norway has 20). They still have to beat Bosnia at home to make it happen though. All 3 goals were beautiful. Norway opened the score with an over the head scissor kick, Emre equalised with a shot from 25 feet outside the box and Nihat won the game for Turkey with a nice touch and shot from just outside the box.

Greece reached 28 points tonight with a 5-0 win over Malta (hat-trick by Gekas). That's the most points any team has in the qualifying round. Even Poland has less (27) and they played 2 games more (13).

Superb result for Northern Ireland last night v Denmark, 2-1.
Though I was quite surprised the game went ahead, the pitch looked pretty waterlogged in places, and the ball would "stick" at times.
Healey scored his 13th goal of the campaign, a new record I believe - mathematically N. Ireland can still qualify, but they will need to beat Spain away and hope Sweden lose at home to Latvia.

Its going to be a very tough call for the N. Irish, but I can just about remember Gerry Armstrong scoring for them v the World Cup Hosts in Espana '82 to win 1-0...so you never know...

You haven't seen the pitch in Macedonia,it was waterlogged all over the place and the ball was sticking all the time,it was possible only to hit it as strong as you can further from your goal towards the other ,ridicolous. That must have been postponed Bilic asked it to be postponed but it's the referee who decide.

YES! Greece just won the game in Hungary so we have 31 points, the most out of ANY team in the qualifying round! Which also means a favourable draw for the WC qualifiers.

Turkey became the 2nd team to qualify in Group C after holding on to a 1-0 lead from the 1st half against Bosnia. Nihat the scorer again, as in the game against Norway.
