i think Ian Wright summed it up well ....he said he was so dissapointed with England`s performance . He said we were given a second chance and you dont often get that in international football . Yet we failed to take it and did not play like it was the most important match since the World Cup ...

Ian Wright looked so gutted last night ...he always used to give his all when playing for England ..a shame some of the players on the pitch last night did not show the same fight and passion that he used to .

Congratulations Croatia, you look a formidable side and your confidence can only grow.

Carson dropped a clanger okay, but he shouldn't be singled out. The English press will be looking for a scapegoat and unfortunately it will be him until the next one comes along. His save in the second hald was world class.

Gerard? I just don't know, I really don't. We all know he is more than capable of passing the ball over the first player in front of him, as are most Sunday league pub team players. But not last night.

The second half was an improvement and Beckham again showed his worth - remember Macca unceremoniously dropping him from his first squad...then having to grovel back....the whole campaign has been an absolute farce from start to finish, and the only silver lining will surely be the inevitable departure of the Manager.

well ~ honestly ~ yeah ~ we're playing really bad ~ i wonder if the u-21 team could be just better T.T
and unfortunately ~ the third goal of the croatians's a beauty ~ if only it could've ended up as a draw T.T
okay ~ carson somehow paid his early mistake with a wonderful save on the ball from the corner T.T
gerrard's good ~ but he's not good being paired up with lamps ~ the chemistry can't just work ~ and what's eating him with such a temper last night? T.T
i couldn't help wondering ~ why didn't he play hargreaves or ferdinand? T.T

I think I have had my fun with the English ppl and team now is the time to give a serius opinion .
The biggest broblem with the English game is the media and the players artidude to the game Scolari just about summoned it up when he said that the English artitude towords the game is basicaly a joke that Football is for entatainment but it is not entateinment it is a sport and you need to be a very wise man to be able to tell the diffreance and the english ppl cannot .
Contrary to what a lot of ppl might say I dont belieave that england dose not have good anough players they do , england has players just as good if not better than any other of the 14teams that eventualy made it to the championship .
But here is where the problem is the MIDEA´s over hype of the players and the EPL over price and payment of these players the press was about to make a lady diana out of scolari and he just could not understand this kind of behaviur comeing from ppl who were sorppose to be covering a sport , the line between football and tabloid news and cultuer keeps getting blord by the day and it just takes its toll on the psychic of the players the Eglish press have started compaiering Rooney to Maradona assoon as he kicked a ball in his first international game the press is full of the WAGS stories just as soon as the england team steps out of the plane to the Venue of thier turnament , do you guys realy think that its only the england players that have wives and girlfriends ? Football is a sport not an Entatainment and douth there is a very very thinn line between the two the min you mix them this is what you get .kids now start getting interestesd in the game for a whole lot diffrent reason and b4 you know it the real grass root of the game is lost .

Can't say I didn't warn England. Those 5mins in total that they attacked the Croatians, they managed two goals. The rest of the time it was "Lob it down the field and hope we get it". Just what I (and supposedly many others) had predicted.

You couldn't expect more from a team that, no offense, has little quality, and no real substitutes.

It made me laugh when Alan Shearer blamed SWP for Croatia's second goal, with SWP's dad sitting right next to him! And Lawrenson commenting on the first goal: Scott Carson? More like Frank Carson! Laughing

Wright and Shearer were two of the muppets who slated Sven. I hope reality has hit him hard now.

On an awful, rain soaked, divoted pitch like that is where a footballer’s true technique stands out. Croatia excelled, and England flopped. They simply couldn’t retain possession long enough because of this, Croatia were still comfortable on the ball even in those conditions.

The way Bilic’s men played reminded me of Argentina: they played neat hustling football in groups of two’s and three’s all over the park. They played one-two’s, triangular passing moves and give-and-go’s to get them out of danger and to calm the situation down. They were fantastic in this regard.

I don't fault the English players' commitment and effort - I'm certain they are all trying their best. I fault their technical and tactical ability. They're second rate compared to the Brazil's, France's, Italy, Argentina's of this world. At best, England are a 1/4 final team. Everyone must realise this.

As Slaven Bilic said after the game:

"Wake up".

Hey, I'm sure you could express your point in more correct way. It's clear to most russian fans that Croatia has just dragged Russia into the last car of the departing EURO 2008 train. The last two games of Russia... let's just don't talk about them now, ok?

England have now an excellent opportunity to learn the lesson, to think and analyze, and to finally improve the team's performance. Do Russia have such a valuable opportunity? It depends on whether Russians are just proud and satisfied, enjoy (?) pointing England to it's faults OR realizes that it jumped into EURO 2008 only by chance, thanks to Croatia, barely winning Andorra from the very bottom of the Group, that it's play is very poor and clearly below the level required to perform successfully at EURO 2008, that the team's defence has many major breaches etc. (I do remember Russia's home win over England, but that is simply not enough.)

The fact is that while in our group either Italy,France and Scotland deserved to go to Euro 2008, in your group both England and Russia didn't lol.

England had to relay on Israel to pass the group and still haven't been able to do it.
Russia had to relay on Croatia to pass and well, it happened.

But while Russia isn't a World Power, it's alright that they had to hope on Croatia, while for England, as many of you already said, there are no excuses

No. Smile I don't think it's alright for Russia either.
