It would really suck travelling 3000miles to play an away game though, would be so draining for the players.

That is a flaw, that can't be helped. It also makes it hard to have a true rivalry between a couple clubs. Traveling fans are quite rare. You'll usually only see a handful of them. The clubs also don't set anything up for the fans if they do wish to travel. So it's all on the fans to set up travel arrangements and such.

The Chicago Fire suck dude. Trust me I know first-hand. Their so-called youth development program, namely the Juniors, is a sham. The event itself is shabby, the effort is nonexistent, and the whole process done just for the fee that players pay for the trial. And on top of that they suck as a team.

So, just to clarify, you dont think highly of Chicago Fire?
Im just slightly unsure of your feelings towards them.... |

I thought I made them clear, but just in case this should clear all doubt...THEY SUCK ASS!
Watch a Fire game and you will see what I mean. They have no style, no tactic, and no talent. They recently brought in Blanco but he's just an old washed up player looking to get a few pocket change before he cannot run on the pitch anymore. |

Nice write-up and insight into the MLS teams there Papa5murf - particularly to someone as unfamiliar as myself with the league. Are many of the games televised in the US?

Unfortunately no. They do have a contract with ESPN to show the "showcase" Thursday night game on 'ESPN 2'. And then there's the Fox Soccer Channel who has the rights to a package of weekly matches. Usually on Saturday nights. Fox Soccer Channel is not a basic cable channel so it requires a subscription through ones local cable tv provider. Then there's the other random stations that not everyone has access to. Fox Sports en Español, HDNet, and Univision and its family of networks. The first two being subscription channels, and Univision only being in your basic cable package if you're in an area with a lot of Latinos. However, me, living in Washington D.C.. We have our local sports channel, "Comcast Sports Net" who shows most of the D.C. United games. (which is great for me, since D.C. United is one of the best clubs in the MLS). There is also the "MLS Direct Kick" package, which is a special pay per view type channel which has been expanded to ensure that every league match is broadcast. This channel is run by the MLS. Now when it comes to out of league matches: CONCACAF Champions' Cup, SuperLiga (against Mexican League); You'd have to flip the channel to a Spanish channel to watch it. |

Thats not too bad, I wasn't sure if you'd have decent access - but I guess with the internet & streaming, there's always plan B!
Blimey now there's a blast from the past. I wondered what had become of him, I used to like him in his Watford days! |

That's what I have to do for all my European games.
He played for the Kansas City Wizards (1996-2001) having 149 appearances and scoring 31 goals. He also managed Red Bull New York (2005/2006). And with Toronto, they managed to set a league record at 824 minutes without a goal. |

do you also find it weird that ac milan and inter milan both share the san siro as their home ground, or at one point in the last couple of yeras, when craven cottage was under renavation, Fulham and QPR had to share loftus road as their home ground? |
