Boruc eyes Rangers Return |
|
The Poland goalkeeper had waited until after Tuesday's vital Champions League qualifier against AC Milan before having the operation.
And the 27-year-old said: "I will probably have the operation in Britain at the end of the week - but certainly by the start of next week. "I'll do everything in my power to be back for the Rangers game." Celtic lost 1-0 in Milan but progressed to the last 16 of the Champions League after Benfica's victory over Shakhtar Donetsk left the Glasgow side second in their qualifying group. "I'm a little bit upset because I won't play the next few games, but I am happier that I can leave the team with us safely through to the next round," said Boruc. "It's not just my knee that hurts - I pulled my groin against Hearts. "Overall, though, the pain has not been too bad. I've had painkillers but not an injection. "The specialist thinks that I will be out for about three weeks." Boruc is determined to play in a vital game against Celtic's main rivals for the Scottish Premier League title. "I don't think that's an unrealistic aim," he said. "It's certainly my target. "It's always a target to play Rangers. I love those games." I love this guy!! We'll miss him badly. I think he's up there with the best in Europe and hope we keep him for years to come (but i seriously doubt it) |

Boruc and McGregor |
|
Why does Boruc always get the credit for the SO CALLED wonderful saves and NOT McGregor as well. I agree that Boruc is a good keeper but NOT up there with the best in Europe! McGregor has made world class saves in the last couple of games foe eg. the 2 against Falkirk! Both are good keepers but this season I think McGregor is just better. Thoughts?

McGregor isnt in the same league as Boruc, Boruc is a world class keeper end of. The only thing with him is his temprement, someetimes he does things that upset other, like when he didnt shaked rangers players hands after the derby easrlier in the year but that doesnt take away from his skill.

I cannot beleive you are comparing McGregor to Boruc. He's one of the top keepers in world football and your comparing him to some fud!
Agree Boruc can cause a bit of annoyance to other fans and that but that's only because he's passionate. Rival fans need a new Celtic cult hero to hate now that Lennon is gone, and big Artur has filled his shoes. I would love Boruc to end his career at Park Head, but if I'm realistic, I think he'll leave soon. If Gordon's worth £9m, I want at least £15m |

I have no idea what a "fud" is but it sounds amusing. Do you think Boruc is Premiership bound, or elsewhere on the continent? I could picture him staying at Celtic as he is obviously very happy there. |

I hope he stays. He does look happy here and celebrates every Celtic goal like a cup winner. He installs confidence in the team and, although our defence can be shambolic at times, we are confident that the big man will pull us out of a hole. I couldn't even count the number of occasions he won us games. Sadly, Boruc wont get the recognition he deserves until he plays in one of the more illustrious leagues. If he played for any of the top 4 in England, he'd be hailed as one of the greatest keepers in World Football.
I remember a few months back he realised a statement saying he's waiting on the club to make him a new offer, which would suggest he's gladly stay if the money was right. Our biggest earners are Gravesen & Blade (I think), and both are useless and don't play. If I were Strachan, I'd be looking to get rid of those two and bump Boruc's wages up. I'd even go as far as offering him the £60,000. He's the best keeper we have had since our glory days in Europe and keepers of his talent are very hard to come by. He's got a year left on his contract with option for another year. If Strachan could tie him down for another few years I'd be very happy. He has got the pedigree to be playing at football's highest level, but sadly the Scottish league is a long way off that. Advancing at least one more stage in this years CL could be crucial in keeping the likes of Boruc interested. He's a hero at the club and *takes deep breaths* I feel losing him would be harder to take than Larsson's departure! I'm in work so can't post any links, but would advise anyone to 'YouTube' Boruc and just watch some of the saves. On numerous occasions the opposition players stand in disbelief at the saves he pulls off |

Praise indeed! I must admit I hadn't realised he was so highly thought of up there. |

McGregor |

I think McGregor is better thn Boruc.... McGregor is more agile. Boruc is a had too many blunders this season and he is nowhere near worldclass yet. What about the 1 against Hibs which cost you the match! He comes out flaps, he reminds me of RAB DOUGLAS!

Yes exactly. Top keepers never make blunders.

Sorry to dig the thread up but i could not contain my dis-belief at that statement that 'McGregor is better than Boruc'. What planet is the man on? I can't think of one real area where McGregor is stronger than Boruc to a serious degree.
