I would rather have Solo watching my back then the so called teammates that stabbed her in the back. She saved their asses in that w/c , if it wasn't for her they wouldn't of got that far. If the player's and people in suits listened to what she said , she didn't attack Bri and I for one still agree with what she said. But it sounds like some player's are still holding the comments against her.

Maybe I will - as long as G W Bush doesn't have anything to do with the team

The most probable is that Bush doesn't know what soccer is |

Fortunately I do not believe W will bring "compassionate conservatism" to women's soccer, although a few of Solo's teammates may have studied the "CC" artform from professor Scooter Libby. Maybe it's because several of the USWNT players were at John Kerry events last time around, but I suspect he still has his heart set on his dream job as President of Major League Baseball. I've found the entire Solo interview , some interesting things in it....
Hope Solo desperately wanted to win the World Cup to honour her father's memory. Then everything went wrong. Nearly three months later , the U.S goalkeeper still is pained by the expierence. Solo was the Americans starter for most of 2007. After her father , Jeffrey , died in June , she dedicated the pursuit of the World Cup title to him. My father was even more excited about this World Cup that I was , " Solo told The Associated Press in her first public comments since the tournament. Solo played well in the first round and quaterfinals , but was benched by coach Greg Ryan for the semifinals against Brazil , replaced by veteran Briana Scurry , and the favored U.S team was routed 4-0. After the loss , Solo said " It was the wrong decision , and I think anybody that knows anything about the game knows that. There's no doubt in my mind I would have made those saves....You have to live in the present. And you can't live by big names. You can't live in the past " Ryan dismissed Solo from the World Cup team. She wasn't allowed on the bench for the third-place game , did not practicipate in the medal ceremony and flew home from China on her own. "It is a little difficult to relive that , " she said. " Mentally , I was full of all sorts of emotions. The World Cup was the only thing that kept me together after the death of my father , kept me fighting and together and dedicated to the game " "Moreso , the moment I realized we didn't have the opportunity to win the gold medal , my world came tumbling down. I had nothing to immediately give back to my father. I was wound so tight emotionally , and the moment after the loss I broke " " I had felt as though my childhood dream basically had been ripped away from me " " Looking back , it is not just gold medals that I have to celebrate his life and give back to his passing. If I never see a gold medal in my life , I will be doing what I can do to make my father proud " Solo had only spoken with close friends and family about her ordeal. As she prepares for a training camp in Carson California... , where she will mingle with many of the World Cup player's , Solo spoke to the AP by phone. She regrets most that her comments seemed directed at her teammates as well as Ryan , who recently was replaced as coach by Pia Sundhage. " Of course I know I have some friendships to rebuild and teammates to rebuild relationships with , " she said. " But there is nothing I can go back and do ".[b] [b]" Never did I intend to put a down a teammate , and that is the thing that hurts the most. I always have repsected and will respect Bri. And that is the thing that hurts the most. " My philosophy is not to live your life with regrets , but you always wish things turned out differently " Solo issued an apology through U.S soccer jus before an exhibition tour against Mexico in October. She and Scurry were together during that series , along with most of the World Cup players. " I have reached out to her , but beyond the Mexico series we have not really spoken , which is not unusual with my teammates , because we're often not together for long ( stretches ) , " Solo said. " I have spoken to a handful of different teammates here and there at different levels. In the end , we are all professionals and have a common goal to qualify for the 2008 Olympics. I can only hope we put our differences aside because we have a job to do. " It's important we respect each other on the field , we don't have to be best friends off he field " The 25 year old keeper from Richland , Washington , chuckled at the irony of the Olympics , for which the Americans must qualify in April , being staged in China. " China is going to bring back a lot of memories for me , no doubt , " she said." But I've been through a lot worse things in life " |

There is also a good video about her dad on Youtube, it's a pretty crazy story.
She was also apparently seriously being recruited to go back to Sweden but: Swedish club Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC has given up trying to sign Solo for next season as the USA's preparations for the 2008 Olympics would have made it difficult for the goalkeeper to compete in the Swedish league. |

Just out of interest - could she play for Sweden if she lived there long enough to get naturalised or citizenship or whatever?
I know the Olympics committee seem to have "unusual" rules about nationality etc |

But this is Football so FIFA rules apply, and they are very clear. Solo is over 21 and have played for USWNT senior-team so she can't play international for anyone else. |

so is Hope Solo now back in favour with the new coach .....
|

She was never out of favor with the new coach, just the old. She was invited to their current camp, with the other two who were at the WWC, if it's between those three I'd have to assume she'll get her starting role back.

Shame she can't go back to Sweden
Pia isn't stupid , she'll surely put Solo back in the starting line up if they want to get to the Olympics. Scurry is just too slow with no kicking ability at all. |

I bet G/K was on the phone with her right after they heard she had to fly home alone, they probably had a good chance there for awhile. But after Ryan got the boot they kind of lost their opportunity. And she probably won't be back since the US league will start a few months after the Olympics. And from what I hear about it there is a good chance G/K will loose Schelin to the US league because of their connection to FC Indiana which is affilated with the soon to be Chicago based professional team which could have Solo allocated to their team from the USWNT. Okay, the last part about Solo a made up (not the Schelin part), but I think that's the closes she'll get to being back in the Swedish league.

HLF,
USWNT, including H. Solo, don't play in Euro leagues because they make more training with the USWNT, and the USWNT does not want them to play in Europe because there is no benefit for them. She won't go back to Sweden because, you are right, after the Olympics (a year or so) the new US league will start. Yes, I think she is back for good on the team. Pia wants to start over and she doesn't seem stupid. Of the three goalies at camp Solo is probably still the best. |

US beats Canada 4-0 in Four Nations tournament; China defeats Finland AP - 2 hours 12 minutes ago GUANGZHOU, China - Hope Solo made her return to the U.S. women's soccer team in a 4-0 win over Canada in Wednesday's opening game of the Four Nations Tournament in southern China. my Rodriguez _ making her international debut _ and Linsday Tarpley scored two goals each for the Americans. Goalkeeper Hope Solo was back between the posts, having been out of the team since last year's World Cup, when she made strong criticism of the decision to bench her for the semifinal. She played the full game Wednesday, making two saves. The first half was scoreless, despite an attacking American squad that had nine shots on goal to the Canadians' four. But Canada's defense unraveled in the second half after forward Rodriguez scored from close range in the 51st minute. Rodriguez converted a penalty in the 65th, and midfielder Tarpley shot home from eight yards in the 71st. Tarpley struck again in the 78th, putting the ball into the bottom right corner. In the second game, China defeated Finland 2-0. Defender Li Jie headed in a cross in the 21st, and Liu Yali scored from inside the box two minutes before half time. The tournament continues Friday when China plays Canada, and the Americans take on Finland http://sg.news.yahoo.com/ap/20080116/tsp-as-spt-soc-four-nations-732c0cd.html |
