Dunfermline want Elvis |

Celtic defender Steven Pressley is understood to have emerged as the front-runner to replace Stephen Kenny as manager of Dunfermline.
Kenny was dismissed a fortnight ago after failing to lift the Fife club out of the First Division relegation zone and Pressley, in the position of player-manager, is the man the East End Park board believes can not only help them avoid demotion but also return them to the Scottish Premier League. Pressley joined Celtic in January, winning a championship medal and becoming the first player to win the Scottish Cup with three different clubs. However, a back injury kept the 34-year-old out of the side until last month, when he replaced the injured John Kennedy during the Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk. The former Scotland defender's contract expires at the end of this season and, since there is no guarantee that he will be offered an extension, the opportunity to begin his managerial career may prove too good to turn down. Pressley wants to continue playing for as long as possible and his experience would help shore up a Dunfermline defence which has been haemorrhaging goals. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Great player that he was in his day, he just hasn't been cutting for some time at Celtic. Can see another centre half arrive in Janurary so he'll never get a game. Fans are already calling to have Bobo Balde played ahead of him. Could be a good move by the Pars. Pressley could spread his defensive knowledge to the side and strengthen things up. I'd say he'd have a few friends around Scottish football that would be willing to give him a hand, whether its loaning players or becoming part of his staff. |
