Wigan 1 - 0 Newcastle

Well i was sat watching this match at the pub and i couldnt believe how good Wigan were in the 1st half!! No Roberts, Chimbonda, Hencoz, De Zueew, Bullard, Camara, Filan, Baines it was basically Wigans 2nd string! cros after cross for the right caused all sorts of problems for the toon THEY LOOKED LIKE BARCA!!!

In the end people Wigan throughly deserved to go through without doubt, Newcastle didnt look interested and Wigan controlled the game

Everyone likes to see them do well, they were in the 2nd division 3 years ag. I remember seeing them play brentford back them when they were near the bottom of the league. A lot of the same players still play for them too so its a great story

I could not believe what i was witnessing watching this game. It was a disgrace the way the Newcastle players were performing. Only Shay Given can come away with any credit, some really good saves . . . but the rest of the team it was pathetic. They couldnt even pass the ball a couple of yards. Extremly embarrasing game.

I was so angry last night with the performance. . . i cant begin to imagine how the Toon fans who travelled down their felt.

Caz, how vital is Michael Owen to Newcastle's success?

How vital?? he is seriously vital to their success,i feel so sorry for him,i'm not slagging Newcastle off here,i just mean Michael Owen deserves a lot better at the moment,at least he has seriously learnt the hard way,he saw Real Madrid and he wanted it lol.....tough luck mate, seriously bad choice, now you're gonna end up as a quality goalscorer who wins nothing ever again....ah well it happens lol....

hey if your so sure that he'll never win anything again, I mean if you have that kind of talent to foretell the future, maybe you could tell me where I might invest some money and make a killing? Wink

I'm still interested in Caz's opinion since she is a big time Newcastle supporter as well a season ticket holder.....

I sure can Oranje,go to your local bookies and put a bet on that Michael Owen will win no major club honours again, and look back on his career when he is a football pundit alongside Shearer and wondering what he could have had if he had some loyalty like Stevie G

Owen didnt play in this game and wont be playing against Villa . . . its rather strange how a groin strain has kept him out, but he was fine for England . . .

Owen will score goals, but we do have to create chances , if we dont start creating chances, owen playing or not , obviously we arent going to win games.

I dont understand why Solano was playing in the centre the other night while Bowyer was on the right !?!?!?!?! Bowyer is always affective in the centre and creates a lot going forward whereas he is isolated on the right . . . and come on Solano is a right midfielder . . . why wont souness play the players in their right postions ??!!? then shoving Bowyer on left half way through the first half . . . i really dont understand it !

it sounds like your a bit bitter with Michael, is it because he left in the first place? Or that when he came back to the EPL, he ended up at Newcastle?

time will tell about his career, I never try to write any player off so quickly, I leave that for all the experts......

I'm not bitter because he went to Newcastle, because we were first choice but just wouldn't pay up,i'm just kinda laughing at him now,he should never have left us in the first place,he's lost everything he could have had,i'm sure his good mates Stevie and Jamie will show him their medals when he visits though

He is still a young player - Im sure he has time on his side to be able to win trophies - just look at Sheringham.

And maybe playing alongside Shearer who is the best English player to win so little, will scare hi enough to seek out some silverware.

That's what i mean,if he stays at Newcastle he will win nothing, and he's already promised he's gonna be there for 4 years,by then nobody else will want him
