Figo Set For USA Move? |
|
My money would be on the LA Galaxy (if it's to happen). He would become the 3rd designated player for the Galaxy (Beckham and Donnavan being the other two). Or if he for some reason chooses the Chicago Fire, he would be the 2nd designated player (Blanco being the other).

Is he moving for the money ?

Well I'm assuming his contract with AEG for $3.5m a season is for endorsements. Then he'll get another paycheck from the club he signs with. And since AEG owns 3 clubs in the MLS, I'd assume they'd want him to play in the MLS for marketing purposes. So in essence, yeah for the money.
Besides, with his suffered broken leg this year, I doubt he wants to stick with his word of earlier this year that this would be his last run and he'll retire. After he resigned with Inter last year, I figured there was no chance for him to come to the MLS, but after his broken leg, I saw a slight chance of him coming to finish his career. Figo and Beckham in the midfield together will run circles around most of the clubs in the MLS. And then you have to add Donovan (who did end up becoming shell-shocked with Beckham on the squad). Only clubs that would be able to compete would probably be DC United and Huston Dynamo. |

If Figo did end up at Galaxy , and Donovan was shell shocked with Beckham , what's he gonna be like with Figo

Donovan was shell shocked last year. I believe it had a lot to do with him losing a lot of his privileges. He was the best player on the squad till Beckham came in. And all the media attention got to him I believe. Donovan was captain, first choice on all free kicks and corners, the main guy to get the ball; and once Beckham got there, Donovan lost all of it.

what do you mean shell shocked? Did he have a major dip in form? Donovan wasn't very good when I watched him against Sydney except for his 90th minute goal where he ran through a bunch of reserve defenders to round a keeper making his debut with a professional club

Major dip in form from Donovan when Beckham came and probably some resentment from losing his captaincy and first choice on free kicks. The whole squad was shell shocked to be honest. They were all in awe when Beckham was playing, and very slow to the ball and not making their runs. Beckham was already thinking/seeing 3-5 plays ahead, while the rest of the squad were just on the current play and not thinking ahead.
My sources tell me Shevchenko will end up on the east coast somewhere. He was eying Red Bull New York, but they already have Juan Pablo Angel and Jozy Altidore. There's talks of Jozy Altidore being sold to Europe, so if that happens I can see Sheva playing there. |
