did Federici get close to the penalty, dive the right way? Australian keepers are usually great penalty stoppers...except for Kalac...

Federici is a decent shot stopper and generally kicks well but his positioning and decision making leaves a lot to be desired.

This is only his 3rd appearance of the season.

I think some regular playing time would do him good. Has he been loaned out before or does he sit on the bench for Hahnemann?

He's been put on loan before and by all accounts has failed to impress.

2nd Choice Keeper last couple of years though so is on the bench every week.
