Stoke vs Newcastle

When the draw was announced, this tie seemed like a banker for a cup shock.
Now thinking about it, I don't know what results would be a shock. Newcastle would go into the game as almost underdogs, so if they win, does it count as a shock?

Still, I that Stoke will win this, and Sam Allardyce will possibly be out of a job come Newcastle's next Premier League match...

I can see Newcastle righting a few wrongs in this game with an assertive win. As much as i would like to see a Stoke win i predict a 2-0 toon win.

There has been nothing assertive about Newcastle this season. They made Derby County look very comfortable on both occassions in which they have met, and I don't expect that to change tomorrow.

I must admit I have a soft spot for Newcastle, but I despise Sam Allardyce, so the sooner he is gone, the quicker the Toon can, like you say, right their (considerable amount of) wrongs...

That was as stimulating as watching wood warp.

By the way, in case anyone still hasn't noticed....Owen is washed up.

In thought it was a fairly intriguing game with Stoke having more than enough chances to win but for some dogged defending from Newcastle.

Not a great game. Typical English end to end slugging match.

Although when it got to each end of the pitch, both teams were atrocious. Stoke looked the more creative but couldn't ever really get a proper shot at Given.

Newcastle should win at St.James'.

Was Owen playing, never noticed him. Laughing Stoke had the best chances, we were lucky to get away with a draw.

No, I only gave permission to laugh if we lost. I never expected a Newcastle win. Check the Let's All Laugh at Newcastle thread.

Newcastle pull off an upset and hold Stoke City to a draw.

I'm not even joking, the way Newcastle have played sometimes this season would make anyone thing Stoke were the favourites. It's a shame after so many upsets they couldn't sneak in a win. But then there's always the replay.. are you confident Monty?

No I'm not confident. I expected a draw out of this. If we lose at home then Allardyce is to blame.

To be fair Stoke should have put this one away in the second half, if only they had a striker who could half finish it could have easily ended 2-0.

I think that was Stoke's opportunity to cause a shock and they blew it - I can see Newcastle winning quite comfortably at St James'.

I did have to laugh at the composure & finesse of Stoke's Fuller I think it was, in the first half, tripping over himself Laughing

Newcastle are dreadful at home too. I think Stoke could put the nails in a very large coffin Wink

I thought Stoke could do them at the first attempt. But then again, I thought Liverpool could have got past Luton as well.

I'd hate to be Sam Allardyce if Newcastle get knocked out at home. Something tells me that they won't, but if they do it will definitely be his last game...

Yeah, well this time last season Brum went back to St.James' for a replay and hammered them 1-5. Very Happy
