Same scoreline for the Final then? Spurs to win 5-1? What are the odds on that

Gooners can say what they like to try to disguise the humiliation, but forget the result for a second. Let’s look focus on the performance.
That’s three times we’ve played Arsenal in a month and that’s three times we’ve outplayed the best footballing team in the country. It is very clear that Spurs are starting to catch up with them – we’re not there yet and are some way off still – but we’re moving in the right direction.

When Wenger said that his only regret was not fielding more kids, I believe the reason why he said that was two fold. Firstly, it could have had a big psychological effect on the senior players that did play, such as Hleb, Gallas (who had a shocker), Fabregas (although he was a sub initially, Spurs still won 4-1 with him on the pitch), Sagna and Adebayor (although he scored, his actions towards teammate Bendtner could seriously destabilise their supposedly fantastic team spirit).

Secondly, this result has broken a huge psychological barrier for fierce rivals Tottenham. Wenger knows that their players now have first hand experience of beating Arsenal, and beating them convincingly.

Both of these reasons are psychological but if you hear Wenger after a match the two factors he always mentions when judging a performance are physical and mental. I'm not saying that Arsenal's season is just suddenly goings to collapse, but the performance and result could have bigger psychological implications than just merely losing a Carling Cup semi final.

If Arsenal fans don't care, fair enough. But the players certainly do - check out Bendtner's nose!

The Arsenal fans do care mate. If any Arsenal team from the 1st choice XI right down to the U-15's beat Spurs by the same scoreline in the cup, we'd be forced to hear about 'the best footballing team ever'...'the stars of the future'...'Wenger is a genius' cack for weeks. Now that they were pumped it has suddenly became a 'diddy cup' against 'the reserves'...

well ..i dont know about any other Arsenal fans ...but i woke up this morning and the first thing that i thought about was ....did we really get beat 5-1 ....it is still a bit of a shock . We Gooners can all make out that it was only one game and only the Carling Cup ...but is more than that . I saw for the first time since i was a kid or since i can remember Tottenham take us apart with ease , every time they went forward they looked capable of scoring , we had no answer ...even with Fabregas and Adebayor on the pitch we could do nothing .

Ok we were very poor defensively but i dont want to take anything away from Tottenham , you still have to put the ball in the back of the net after all and they did that 5 ....5 !! times .

I guess the next few games for Arsenal and Tottenham will see what kind of effect this result had on the two teams ....

dooh.. of course he's not.. but maybe he can consider being either one after this incident.. who knows.. rofl..

he should've learnt and known their temper well.. okay.. maybe it's just beyond everyone's imagination to see such a thing.. but as i mentioned.. there's no point in forcing to play those two if you've known they didn't get along well from the first place..

trying to keep things from the media might just make it sound worse when they come up with a number of assumptions.. not good ones for sure.. and the story will still continue for a long time after this..

perhaps wenger needs a little bit advice from fergie about how to manage his team.. lol..

^ Adebayor and Bendtner have played together before and it was fine. No one can predict it to blow up on the pitch. We were losing and Wenger decided to put in all the strikers he had on the squad. Can't fault him for that, any manager (yes even Fergie) would have put in every striker he had if he was down 3/4 goals to nil.

Fergie isn't the greatest person for advice on how to control players' attitudes (on or off the pitch). Ronaldo and Rooney aren't angels.

and of course Sir Alex knows how to control his players , well maybe on the pitch anyway .....

now.. if bendtner has a broken nose afterwards.. adebayor would probably be sued for that.. and leo said the ref didn't give a red card because he's attacking his own teammate.. i couldn't stop lol-in.. really.. sorry.. lol..
it's four down to nil.. and if wenger really wanted to think a little.. just a bit.. any players he's going to put in wouldn't be able to catch up.. four goals.. football is a sport game and not a magic thing.. and Spurs isn't a weak team like wigan..

Well, I honestly don't really give a toss. Before the 1st leg I admitted that we'd go out over these two legs and I knew it'd be a good learning experience for some of the inexperienced players. We've done well in the competition up until that game and even though we got hammered, I thought the players reacted well despite never really putting a foot on the pedal [with exception to Bendtner and Adebayor of course].

The Carling Cup is never a priority. It's a cup to give the youngsters a chance and that's what Wenger did. To help the younger players he usually sticks in a First XI player or two to strengthen the side a little so that the younger players can learn off them and not struggle against strong opposition like WBA, Everton, Liverpool, Spurs, Newcastle, Blackburn etc. who we've dumped out of the cup with mostly non-First XI teams in the past seasons.

It's been really good and reaching the semi-final was an achievement in itself.

Now, losing to our fierce rivals in that manner is not nice and nobody seen it coming but these things happen. At the time I was gutted for the players and the Gooners that were there singing until the end [the very few that stayed]. But personally I was grand with it, we were outclassed and deservedly beaten. If it had of been us outclassing Spurs and deserving something, I'd be absolutely devastated and I would care if we lost, despite dominating.

However I knew we'd struggle very much in this round against Spurs and expected an exit. So really, I don't care about the result or the cup exit. Even if we don't win any of the main trophies this season, I won't look back at that Spurs tie and regret that Wenger didn't start his strongest possible selections in both rounds; nor will I regret getting knocked out.

Spurs need to be successful in that competition more than we do and Ramos has a great record in cups so they were going to be formidable. I can honestly see them beating Chelsea in the final.

I don't remember a Man Utd player attacking another Man Utd player on the pitch!
