Watch tonight though. Big Phil will bury Owen in the dust and leave Rooney short of breathing space. |

England: James, Brown, Ferdinand, Upson, A.Cole, Bentley, Jenas, Gerrard, Barry, J.Cole, Rooney
I'm a little surprised actually. Upson, Jenas, Barry and Brown all in. |

Shearer talks some crap doesn't he?! ''Rooney has been the best in his position over the last 6 weeks.'' He's been very average of late. Some might say Kitson and even Andy Johnson have been better of late. Even Defoe, despite not starting regularly has done a better job when he's been given the chance over the last 6 weeks.

Uhhhhhh. What kind of starting lineup is that. Brown? Upson? Jenas has been playing very well lately but in the starting lineup? I dunno about that one. |

Indeed. It seems as if Barry will sit and protect the back four, with Cole and Bentley perhaps making runs in behind and off Rooney. Gerrard given a license to go forward i would imagine with Jenas trying to pull the strings in the middle. Surprised to see Brown ahead of Richards, unless he is injured, although Richards has really been displaying his inexperience of late. Upson given the nod alongside Ferdinand which i think is perfectly justified although his lack of pace worries me a little.
Come on England! |

But hasn't he been playing at CB lately for Man City? I'm pretty sure he played CB against Arsenal at least. He's a much better player at RB. A bit too inexperienced to play at CB right now. He can make a few mistakes out at RB and still make up for it with his pace; but at CB, it's a thin line he's walking on. |

Yeah he mostly plays at CB for City, although he has always been played at right back for England as he just is not good enough to vie for a place at centre back. I agree with having Wesley at right back in the absence of Neville at the moment. |

I'm not watching the game, but keeping track by text/gamecast. So far doesn't sound too good. But hell, at least Capello is up and screaming at his players unlike the past two England managers.
Wes Brown (soon to be ex-England. as stated in the text) is apparently playing terribly. |

If England win will the supporters sing... "for he's a jolly capello"

They are playing like they have never met before. First game and new system may bring nerves, but the Swiss are looking more dangerous than us going forward certainly. No-one is getting close enough to Rooney to create chances off of him. It's Cole and Bentley Vs Swtzerland.

Hahahaha, Senderos almost scores.

GOAL!!! 1-0 England and it's Jenas with a little tap in after a great ball from Gerrard to Joe Cole who proceeded to skin the Swiss full back and lay it beautifully on a plate for the Spurs Midfielder.
Hopefully this will kick it into higher gear. |

Kick it into first gear at least.
This is such a poor game of football. |

|
|

|
Finally!!
Capello really does know what he's doing. |
||||||||
|
|
|||||||||
|
The sheer amount of Midfielders out there is making the middle appear like the M25. Congested. We keep trying to force a pass when there is not one on. Just hold the ball!

What did you expect? Offensive football with Capello?

JJ scores for England !
COE! COYS! |

1-1. Debut goal for the young Swiss man.
Good striker, squeezed it past the Defender and James could only get fingertips to it. |
