Nicky weaver - Man city |

Manchester City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver has admitted he thought he might have to quit football because of a horrific knee problem.
Weaver got his first taste of Premiership action since April 2001 when he came off the bench in the draw against Middlesbrough. A promising career went into tailspin following the devastating injury and it was only at Christmas that he made his comeback for the reserves. Weaver, 26, revelled in the atmosphere at the City of Manchester Stadium when he came on at the weekend. "Seven or eight months ago I could not have imagined being where I am today," he told the Manchester Evening News. "I thought I might never hear an ovation from the fans like that again. "I even thought I might never play again. "To come on and get that reception and to be in the position I am now means it has been a great season for me." The bonus for Weaver as well is that he is able to go on holiday after spending the last few close seasons in the gym. He added: "I am looking forward to next season now. A few more five minutes here and there will do me!" |
