I expect us to win this, I hope we can go out in the first leg and wallop them, leaving us able to rest some key players in the second leg for the league cup final.

Should be a good couple of warmup games for the final IMO, tough opposition but not Premeirship standard and the European ties seem to be at a slightly slower pace than league ones.

Want to see Zokora get a run out so Ramos can decide who will partner JJ in the middle for the final, Ohara, Zokora, Hudd, Tainio all in with a good shot IMO.

This should be a relatively comfortable win, considering the standard of football that we're playing at present. I don't expect it to be a walkover though and as long as we secure at least a draw (at least one away goal would be handy), then I'll be pleased and I'll be confident that we can get a good result back at The Lane. It would, however, be fantastic if we could win by a few which would - as BJ mentioned - allow us to rest some key players for the CC final.

Of their last five games, Slavia Prague have won one, drawn one and lost three, so they're not coming into this match with any great momentum, although results themselves don't always tell the whole story.

Our squad will be interesting for this match and I fully expect Ramos to be taking the game very seriously, as he must be desperate to win this competition again. The last thing we need to do is underestimate a foreign team.
As with most matches, midfield will be the key area and we have plenty of options there; some would argue that none of our options are "world class" and they'd probably be right. Nobody can argue though, that there's a huge amount of potential there and at this moment in time they're all at - or very close to being at - the top of their games. Tainio and Zokora offer similar styles; The Hudd is playing well recently (although this has mostly been at CB); then there's Jenas, who is the only concrete starter in the middle of the field, in my opinion.
Due to the slower pace of a tie such as this (in comparison to the EPL, anyway) I think Huddlestone could have a good game alongside Jenas, as he'd be afforded slightly more time on the ball. I don't believe Huddlestone should start though. I'd like us to go out at a high tempo and perhaps bring Huddlestone on later in the game. I've often thought that The Hudd would be the ideal player to sit back and pick out passes for Bent, who has pace and is very clever at running the line. Surely they could link up well? They haven't had many opportunities to play at the same time so I wouldn't mind seeing Bent and Huddlestone come on later in the game when the opposition begin to tire.

Anyway, here's hoping for an interesting game. If we can effectively get the job done this evening, it'd be fantastic.

I didn't think this game would be tough, but it's been much, much easier than I anticipated. There's not much to say about the first half really - we played well but Slavia didn't exactly offer much in return and their support isn't going to get them going any time soon. I've heard much more from our fans than the home fans.
We're certainly passing the ball well and have created some nice little triangles but they've allowed us so much time on the ball that it's been very easy to do so.

Both strikers took their goals well and we could've had a couple more were it not for their keeper. Going by the first half, a 0-4 lead would be a nice result to take back to The Lane. I shouldn't be so complacent, but it's difficult to be anything else...
