Why does Steven Gerrard always appear in these lists. Come on be honest is he really in the top 6 players in the world at the moment or indeed ever?

i'd say Kaka and Ronaldo were contenders, also messi of course should be on that list.

Rooney, Gerrard no way should be on that list. Rooney needs to add alot more goals to his game if he wants any chance of being considered.

I think its hard to say, as its very hard to compare the qualities of defenders to that of strikers.

Gerrard isn't even the best CM, nevermind Midfielder, nevermind best player in the Premiership.

No idea who the best is. People are hugely biased towards the attacking minded flair players, which is false. Having the more attractive attributes does not make you better.

Jimmy Very Happy

Nah, Kaka deserved the awards he got. That match last year in the semis against Man Utd said it all.
Watch that second goal again.

Sorry, but it isn't an adequate questioning. There are a lot of pretty good players, but shall I choose the best from the bests? No, thanks. Each is good in that conditions, in what he plays. Some say, that Buffon is the best goalkeaper (sometimes I agree with it), but if you put him on the goal in Real with it's worn through defence, I'm sure Buffon will miss in one season much more than he had during his career. And it's only one example! It's an idle talk, imho.

on current form i would have to say Messi should most definitely be on that list.I don't know why this is always tilted to attacking players ,the only defender i see on that list i see get twitsted up time after time.He only get's respect because italy won the world cup and not one player really stood out in that team.
seedorf is well overlooked, and i think you got to look at what they've won,in which case kaka deserves
to be a top nominee.
I think there are guy's not mentioned who are without question the best in their position and three of them play for Chelsea Drogba,Makalele and Essien.
The lack of african players not selected is quite ridiculous actually, but i guess you can pretty much predict that.

Laughing

Don't tell us, it's another race-orientated conspiracy!? I thought we'd seen the last of that with Bendtner and Adebayor...

It's not that people are biased towards attackers but the main point is that they score goals which is the main "goal" behind this game Wink

But if you want me to name a defender I will tell you that one of the best right now that I have seen is Khaka Kaladze. I don't know why this guy hasn't been talked about. He is a superb defender. The saves he comes up with are amazing and the ways he does it are brilliant. Just last match he came up with a great block to a cross.

Oh and by the way.......STOP WITH THIS GERRARD CRAP.
He is not a great player, he may be a good player but a great one he is not. Scousers quit trying to give him legendary status, deep down you know he ain't worth it. Hell I like Liverpool myself and I don't like Gerrard.

Well Kaka deserves a big credit but surely if we compare him with Cristiano Ronaldo, outcomes will show us that Cristiano Ronaldo deserves more credit than Kaka does and therefore I voted for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Alexandre Pato will become a contender for the "Best Player in the World" tag.

Right now I'd say it's between the two South Americans.

That's gotta be the shittest list of nominees ever.

Only Kaka and Ronaldo deserve their place there.
