Scouting

As a few of you may know, I'm looking to pursue a career as a football agent. As part of my journey to become one will involve me needing to spot young talent and doing some scouting myself. So has anyone got any scouting tips or advice. Any help will be well appreciated. Thanks

No one can help you understand what makes a player mate, but the best advice I can probably offer is:

Regularly check County FA's websites for County Fixtures. Also check out strong local leagues websites for when 1st play 2nd, and keep an eye peeled on the local football reports. If you see a name that keeps appearing in the goalscoring columns, check it out.

BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, is that do not, EVER approach a player under 18 years of age looking to represent them. I would strongly reccomend against doing it to their parents aswell. Affiliate yourself to a club, get a CRB check and be honest with the parents at all times.

I'd say you can see what makes a player but it can depend a lot on work rate.

Work rate is key because at a young age he most important thing is effort because with time their game will improve along with their technique etc. but if a player is lazy they will not progress.

Another key element in youth football is positional awareness as you probably know young footballers can cramp the pitch and the most talented players will stand out with their possitional awareness and the timing of their runs.

Technique is also good especially if someone has a noticably superior tecnique at a young age because from the tecnique you gain all your other skills.

Anyway good luck to you because I wish that I could be doing what you are but I can't because my parents would be so uptight about things like that after they sent me to a gay private school and something 'untraditional' would be 'inappropriate'. Best of luck and by the way how do you start being a scout/agent, is there an FA scheme or is it through clubs?
