Has anyone been to America on hols?

I'm going for 5 weeks in september after I graduate. Starting in Vegas, and flying home from Boston. Goin to santa fe, houston, miami, orlando, new york, washington, virginia beach and new orleans.

Was jus wondering if anyone had any stories of these places and any advice of where to go and what to do.

Also, going to Kentwood to see where Britney lived but that's a whole different thread haha! Very Happy

You'll love Las Vegas if you love to have a good time. You're only on this plant once you know, so live it up Very Happy

If you make your way to Washington DC, give me a buzz. I'll show you around or at the very least, tell you where to go.

You're gonna love New York City. I live there. Laughing

Great call going to Santa Fe. It's one of the forgotten parts of the country. It's the oldest city in the nation and the architecture is breath taking. I lived in New Mexico for 2 years, so I've frequented Santa Fe and I loved it every time I went there.

Places to visit in Santa Fe -

The Plaza - Great place to go see the culture and the art. You just walk around and take in the scenery, listen to some hippies play guitar and maybe buy some bargain jewelry from the Native American vendors.

The Capitol - Not your average political building. Made of adobe, just the outside is a work of art. Inside, there is collection of Southwestern art from paintings to sculptures. If you are lucky enough to meet the governor, he's a very friendly and personable guy. (Bill Richardson)

St. Francis Cathedral (now a Basilica) - If you're not Catholic, it's just another breathtaking work of art. The facade is beautiful and the stained glass is amazing.

San Miguel Chapel - The oldest church in the country. There's a bell in there that legend says if you ring, you will some how find your way back to Santa Fe. I rung it in 2003, and I thought I'd never come back... Turns out I moved to New Mexico and I came back to Santa Fe in 2005! Smile

Loretto Church - This church holds a spiral staircase that was believed to be built by St. Joseph (Jesus' dad). Have one of the historians tell you about it, and if you don't believe it, then you'll surely be impressed, nonetheless as the staircase was built WITHOUT nails!

Georgia O'Keefe Museum - Museum dedicated to New Mexico artist of the same name.

FOOOOOD!!! - Southwestern food at its finest. Make sure to taste the Mexican specials as well as the roasted red peppers. Don't go to just any place. Ask the locals where to go. There is a visitors center where the friendly staff will tell you where the best food is for the best price.

That's pretty much some of the things you have to look out for on your trip to Santa Fe. Very Happy

As for New York, there's something to do anywhere at anytime and way too many to list here. Just tell me what you're interested in, and I'll try to help you out.

Enjoy!
