As a swede I kinda like the draw. We tend not to lose against England, but still we're always considered the underdog. Perfect! And it's the last game of the group stage too so if everything goes according to plan both teams will already be through to the next stage. Hopefully.
To sum it up:
Sweden has the better goalkeeper. That Isaksson hasn't been snatched by one of the really big clubs in Europe is a mystery.
England has the better defense. Sweden's defense is not what it once was. And even though I'm not content with the starting line up, I fear what injuries might do to the Swedish team's defense.
Midfield...goes to England. Beckham might not be as brilliant on the field as he is considered beatiful, but he still kicks a pretty decent freekick. Lampard, Gerard...also world class players. Sweden have Ljungberg and the underrated Linderoth who never stops running. Other than that we have some players that can perform magic in their best days but way too often are far from great.
Strikers: I call this one a draw. Even though Owen and
Rooney are great players, Larsson is very smart, hard working and experienced and Ibrahimovic is spectacular. He's having great success in Italy, a country that more or less invented defensive football. Owen's speed worries me.
That makes it 2½-1½ in favour of England...but I still think it'll be a draw. Ljungberg simply won't tolerate a loss. :0)
But much can happen before that. A few injuries to key players in Sweden and we'll be happy taking points from Trinidad & Tobago...
