Thursday 6th March.

Quater finals here we come maybe?

Hoping for a 1 - 1 here... But it's going to be a REALLY tough game. Already have my ticket for the home game so here's hoping there is no disaster scoreline in this leg. Confused

I think 1-1 or 1-0 for Fiorentina because Mutu score often, but i think the european giants will qualify. Wink

Yes really a though one. Fiorentina and Everton both serious contenders to the final victory, the state of form of the two clubs will make the difference imo. I really have no idea who could win

It's certainly an entertaining prospect with two on form sides. However i feel Fiorentina's good form will be enough to see them take control of the tie 2-0 and back to Goodison Park.

As much as it hurts me to say - I can see Everton winning this, though may be close.

Fiorentina are decent enough, but looking at the Champions League result last week, I would say Everton are at a better standard.

The important thing for Everton is to try and nick an away goal whilst retaining a modest scoreline. They have to stay within touch for the return fixture.

I think Fiorentina will win 3-1 here, but it wouldn't be disastrous if they did - just means Everton would have to win 2-0 at Goodison.

Interesting game here... I'll probably look for a Mac Stream of it.

I'd go with a draw here with Everton getting a goal or two.

Hey Bluey, my mate who studies over at the New York University - Florence school will be watching their home leg. Very Happy Lucky guy got cheap season tickets and his Uni is only a few blocks away. All I have are Red Bull New York and they're not even close enough to walk to. Sad

Best of luck Bluenose, will be a really tough task but the form Everton are in at the moment I can see them getting through.

I used to really like Fiorentina back in the day because of their kit! (hello anorak...)

Fiorentina are waiting on tests amid concerns that Adrian Mutu has damaged knee ligaments.

The Romanian forward was stretched off during Fiorentina's defeat against Roma on Sunday.

Fiorentina confirmed the injury was to the knee and they are now waiting for him to have a scan.

Mutu sustained a sprain to the left knee with an effect on the internal compartment, in particular the collateral medial ligament," read a statement released by Fiorentina.

"The entity of the damage will be better quantified during the tests that will be held tomorrow."

Fiore coach Cesare Prandelli admitted they were worried about the results.

"He feels a little pain in the collateral ligament, but we hope it is only a bruise because it was a very hard sprain," he said.

Watched Fiorentina yesterday beat Juve 3-2 but I wasn't all that impressed to be honest. I reckon Everton can win both home and away and just hope they don't choke. Sissoko scored against them FFS!

From OS

England boss Fabio Capello says Everton will be 'dangerous opponents' for Fiorentina.

Capello was present at Goodison Park on Sunday as the Toffees overcame Portsmouth 3-1 with a splendid performance.

Next up is the trip to Florence for the Uefa Cup round of 16 first leg - and Capello has warned his compatriots of Everton's quality.

"Everton are a good team and it will be an interesting game against Fiorentina," he declared.

"Fiorentina have an injury to one of their best players, Adrian Mutu, and he is very important for them.

"Everton are a very well organised team and the players stay in good positions on the pitch, so I think they will be dangerous opponents for Fiorentina right now."

Capello called up Joleon Lescott into his first England squad in February, but the defender is yet to feature on the pitch under the new man.

Fiorentina prepared for the visit of Everton with a sensational 3-2 away win over Juventus on Sunday, the win completed by a 94th minute goal from Argentinian striker Pablo Osvaldo.

1 - 1 at Florence and 2 - 1 at Goodison. I believe the premiership has over taken Serie A as the more challenging league. So both 4th place team in their respective league meeting each other.... Everton should prevail over 2 legs as I believe we are a better team than most people think.

I am even confident enough for Everton to win at Florence though wouldn't complain if we come back with a draw. We are on fire now and Yak looks unstoppable!!!! Everton for the semis!!!!!

What both managers have had to say so far...

Everton manager David Moyes:

"I would see this tie as more of two sides who in the future are going to be in the Champions League.

"Fiorentina are a very good team and I think there are a lot of similarities to Everton. They are very strong as a team, maybe more so than any star.

"They play with a good tempo and obviously had a fantastic result at the weekend and will have confidence from that. We understand that we are playing a very strong Italian team."

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli:

"I am worried. This is a real team who will make us suffer a lot. We will be against one of the best teams in Europe.

"I am very curious to see how we fare. This game is going to be very difficult and we are going to have to keep our concentration.

"They are a team who play good football but are also physical. They play the ball well both on the floor and in the air and are very well organised. But if you go out with the thought of defending, then you lose."
