Why do you dislike Rafa so much?
Is it really necessary to insult him by calling him fat at every opportunity? Do i refer to Curbishley as baggy eyed Curbs? No. |

I quite like that about him. He has a sense of humour.
He's a lot more interesting than Avram Grant. I can't think of many times other than the infamous press conference where he has been really childish. |

From Sky Sports........
Sky Sports News Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks will not stand in the way of George Gillett selling his 50 per cent stake in the club. Gillett is understood to be in negotiations with Dubai International Capital (DIC) concerning the potential sale of his shares, but required the backing of Hicks in order to complete any deal. The two Americans entered into an agreement at the time of their purchase of the club that stipulated that if either of them should decide to walk away from Anfield then the other would have first refusal on buying their partner out. Hicks was initially interested in obtaining complete control of the Reds and was strongly opposed to any external investors becoming involved in the running of the club. However, he has now relented and is believed to be seeking discussions of his own with DIC representatives. With Gillett now free to push on with the proposed sale of his shares the situation could be resolved by the weekend. |

No. It's because the Texas Rangers, regardless of owners, are one of the most failed franchises in American sports. Americans who only know who Manchester United are know nothing about this. It is abuzz in the business realm though. We actually talked about this in one of my business classes because it was a story in Bloomberg. |

Well like I said before things are moving ever so quickly with this bizarre merry-go-round.
But it does look like Tom Hicks has failed to raise the needed amount to buy out George Gillett's 50% of shares. JP Morgan advised Tom Hicks at the weekend that it would put his other assets at 'serious risk' should he decide to take that route. The next problem for Hicks was when he tried to buy 1-2% of Gillett’s shares 12 days ago, Gillett resisted straight away, as the contract is said to state, if either party wishes to sell the stake in LFC - it has to be the whole amount of shares - not split. So because Hicks couldn’t get any of Gillett’s shares, Hicks advisors wrote to DIC on Tuesday of this week stating that - Hicks was 'unable to go ahead with his attempts at buying out Gillett at this time' & that DIC will receive no legal threats from his party should they still wish to buy out Gillett. He also has said in that letter that he wishes to 'sit down' with DIC and talk about the ‘future’. Now I know for sure that talks between Gillett's advisors & DIC seniors are underway at the same hotel in Mayfair London where discussions have been ongoing for the last 4 days & Dubai International Capital are said to be 48 hours away from taking control of half of Liverpool football club. Further more, from what I hear is DIC will not be slow in trying to force Tom Hicks to relinquish at least some of his shares that enable them to take over all control. DIC who are being represented by PCP Capital Partners at these talks with Gilletts reps in London, are said to have put a huge package together which will see Hicks keep the majority of his shares, a large amount of money & future this & that’s. Now as much as Hicks says he won’t sell - the problem he is going to face is once DIC are in at Liverpool, they as a business have the means to make things more than difficult for Hicks and the last people he wants to start & carry on this fight with is - DIC. If Hick's knows his future gains' are not under threat & he has assurances that his position is not at risk - a deal will be done. What I hear from Hick's side - The reason he is desperate to stay at Anfield is because he wants to be the one who oversees the building of the new Anfield. He has already started giving contracts to his people back in the States and does not want that put at risk. The steel industry is a massive one for Hicks & will earn him & his associates millions of dollars. DIC are said to be 'open' to Hicks carrying on that work - IF a deal can be reached - otherwise DIC will cause Hicks massive problems by derailing his plans for the new Anfield. A source at Financial Dynamics who are representing Tom Hicks, insist Hicks will not just walk away & a set of conditions have already been passed on to Amanda Staveley who represents DIC. Finally, the one certain loser in all this will be Rick Parry. He is again at these talks in London, as someone who is 'looking out for the interests of Liverpool football club' but DIC view Parry as the main reason they didn't achieve the purchase a little over a year ago & he is on borrowed time. Even Hicks is privately said to dislike Parry, so all is not looking good for him. More on this to follow, but at least it finally seems there is a light at the end of the tunnel. |

Not really ulster - at least things are coming to a head with it.
The only reason its taken so long is because of Tom Hicks. Hes a fighter, but up against these chaps he is fighting a losing battle. What do you think of DIC ulster? |

No [beep!], Sherlock. Your source tell you that, or did you work this startling new information out all by yourself? Not to worry, within weeks I'm told... |

Morning all,
Well I have received numerous emails this morning stating that a deal has been done. An agreement was said to be reached with Gillett & DIC late last night. DIC have bought 49% of Gilletts shares. I will try and find out if its true shortly. dmjn100 |

PCP senior partner Amanda Staveley and chief representative for DIC, has said in a statement:
“Subject to renegotiation of a partnership agreement and subject to the stringent minority shareholder protection rights we would be prepared to accept a 49% shareholding in Liverpool FC. This arrangement provides the best possible solution to the situation and would be in the best interests of the club and their loyal fans.” Seems as if this is true. |
