Hey mate, i was just joking. Seriously, Arsenal had some not so great perfomances in the past 4 or 5 games before the Milan match and they needed that win at the San Siro to regain their faith and form and I am happy that they did it(First English club to defeat Milan at the San Siro!!! Very Happy ). Also happy that Cesc played well in the game(Although i think Flamini was the MOTM IMO) considering that he had a recent slump in his form.

If Arsenal continue to play like this, then they have a huge chance of going to the finals and perhaps win the CL too. Also they can win the premier league too. Of course as a Gunner, i can dream and hope right... Smile

Some decent posts in here.

I can't agree with specnur and the Eboué fans on the Ivorian though. For me, the guy lacks the class to field in the Arsenal First XI. I appreciate that he has a few excellent attributes, but overall he's a weak player at RW. At RB, he's a good player - his pace and long strides enable him to make good recovery tackles and we've seen him tested against the very best in that position where he's more than often come out on top. But once Eboué gets into a really advanced role and is expected to hold the ball up, play in tighter spaces and use vision & creativity - he lacks desperately. His cross can be good, but he only found a few good crosses in the latter half of last season and this season he hasn't produced it that much simply because he can't get into his stride on the RW position as he doesn't have the control, attacking mind or class really.

His attitude stinks and he is temperamental. He has let down the Club on many occasions and I can't take a liking to the guy or his football in that position. This season he has easily been our weakest player and biggest disappointment. He did very little in the Milan game except spurn glorious chances, just like the first tie.
________________________________________

On the game itself: - Well I think that we did truly outclass Milan on the night. I'm also glad to read somebody else's point that Milan did actually play some strong & dominant football in the early stages - they created some stupidly good chances through Inzaghi, Kaká and Pato. How Pato missed was a mystery, he should have buried and we were lucky on that occasion - at the time I thought, 'if Milan keep this up and keep creating these chances, we'll get rattled'. But we picked ourselves up pretty fast and once we got settled into the atmosphere and the grass, we took control; we dominated; we outplayed them and we outclassed them on every section of the field.

After those few early moments in the game where Milan produced some quality stuff, we stepped up and took control. From then it was all Arsenal, bar a few weak Milan counter-attacks and we thoroughly deserved a goal or three. When we failed to score from some great chances, I thought we might not do it, but as time dragged on and the fitness & fatigue became vital I just knew we'd go on to win it. Our players were breezing past the Milan players. Kaká's pace was useless and even when he did use it, there was a lack of support because we were just stronger, faster and more concentrated.

I'm extremely happy with the result. Not only did we knock out the Champions, but we did it in style. A Cesc wondergoal at the San Siro to make history is just a dream, and Cesc admitted that it was one of the best moments of his career. To dull that performance down by weighing up Milan as "bad" is ludicrous. We rattled them and they had no answer. Our technical level of football and our physicality was better.

Misinterpret things if you will, but I'm really not sure where comments such as these have come from. Nobody has tried to discredit Arsenal's performance by "weighing up Milan as bad". I saw Milan make a lot of mistakes and when I say that I mean no disrespect to the way Arsenal performed. Take a look at my first post in this thread and you'll find it to be quite complimentary.

I don't mean to speak for Steely, but he seems to have a different interpretation of what words such as "outclassed" and "dominated" mean. There will always be variations in how different people use certain words, with the many discussions over what constitutes a "world class" player being a good example of this.

Several Arsenal fans seem to be going on the defensive and I can't quite figure out why. Things often get misconstrued on internet forums though, so I'll put it down to that. Smile

The sun only gave Flamini a match rating of 8. What an insult.

They didn't give him star man either. That went to Fabregas with a 9.

What a joke.

Goal.com gave Flamini a 9 (MOTM), Fabregas a 8.5, and Adebayor an 8.

Nope. Not a chance, not a chance. We will not leave it for you, but we will fight hard with you for it. This week we have a chance to go 4 points clear off you. But the CL is another matter. Razz Laughing Very Happy

i gave up ages ago mate.

nobody is prepared to sit back and actually read what i was saying, just jumping to their clubs defence even though i have not even criticised them. still, why let the facts get in the way of a good argument?
