This will be a match which United are expected to win but Pompey are always an unpredictable team, especially against United it seems. That being said, the fact that it's at Old Trafford maybe dampens that uncertainty to an extent and also there is no Benjani this time, he is always trouble. I think Rio and Vidic have more than enough to bully Defoe and Kanu or Baros out of the game and keep them under wraps.

The team will be something like so:

------------VDS

Brown--Rio--Vidic--Evra

----Hargreaves
--------------Scholes
Park----------------Giggs

------Tevez--Rooney

Hargreaves, Tevez, Giggs and Scholes should return for this one. I'm not sure about Rooney, he could be rested for Saha but he won't want to be and the Rooney-Tevez partnership could do with an airing.

My prediction for the game will be that United keep a clean sheet and score 3 goals; Manchester United 3-0 Portsmouth.

i doubt fergie would play giggs anymore after nani's superb performance.. and i suppose he'll play anderson in the midfield too.. not sure anyway.. he's always full of surprises.. XD

and i'm afraid you predict a too-high score.. forev.. 2-0 would be good enough.. lol.. and defoe.. he's a pretty decent player when he's still residing at white hart lane..

Fergie has already said that Giggs and Scholes will be back tomorrow, he just rested them against Lyon. He also rested Hargreaves which is my reasoning behind him playing alongside Scholes.

I don't think it's too high, I think that it will be 2-0 early in the second half and then we'll just steal another one late on to bury the tie Wink

Defoe is indeed a decent player but Vidic and Rio are on top form and they will keep him subdued quite easily.

Fergie said Tuesday night that it would be a different midfield on Saturday.

Pompey are always difficult to play and that won't change tomorrow. I think this could be a draw and replay. Here's hoping that James has a bad day at the office.

very disappointing performance by johnson from pompey.. how could he stand in the way to prevent tevez from scoring?.. aarrgghh..

we should've scored at least one in this first half.. just incase nobody noticed how tall and strong the pompey defenders..

the ref's obviously robbing us with no free kicks against the fouls we got.. *annoyed*

What more can you do? I can't ever remember a more fortunate win in my 19 years of life. The ref absolutely f*cked us up the arse today, that's for sure. That was a penalty every single day of the week.

I bet Fergie will be rueing the decision not to buy a proper centre-forward this year, everybody could see that that's what we needed not just today but anytime we've come up against a big team. Louis Saha has gone to show again that he's a f*cking piece of sh!t sick note who can't be relied upon in any circumstances, he needs sold and the sooner the better.

Eh well, classic smash and grab. Well done Pompey.

Don't be so harsh on Saha. He may be a sick note, but it's not his fault. If it wasn't for injuries he'd be a superb player, so i really feel sorry for him and would never say something bad about him. Really, really unlucky player.

Because he injured himself AGAIN in the warm up. He's made 84 appearances in over 4 years, he's a liabilty.

He probably chipped his toenail this time...

I'm past feeling sorry for him. I want him sold and I'm not alone, he's never there when you need him. It may not be his fault but it still happens and we don't need to be carrying him any longer. We don't owe him anything.

For this season not possible to buy a new striker. May be Danny Welback will fill the shoes.

Thank god we have ManUcho coming next year only if he gets the work permit.

it's really embarassing.. the ref and his decisions.. T.T

we're playing so hard that we truly deserved to win this match.. if only the ref.. T.T

i was horribly shocked to see Rooney and anderson trying to be vidic and ferdinand.. where's our defenders?.. T.T

anyway.. pompey beat us with a penalty.. unbelievable.. T.T

well done.. pompey defenders.. for their height and strength and.. everything..

Very exciting game. Pompey had too much hight, Man Utd kept crossing the ball in and Pompey were going to win those header 99 times out of 100.

I think ref was a blind ar*e today. Either it was red card or Penlty but not both.

If he would have given Penlty to Pompey and yellow card to our goal keeper then its OK.

Is the rule if you stop a clear goal scoring opportunity its a red card?

Wow!! I only caught it from the PK (for Portsmouth) till the end of the match, then saw the highlights and all the near misses for United. United's luck finally ran out.

Well its for sure a penalty, because its a foul in the box.

I think its a red card also because he has denied Baros a clear goal scoring opportunity.

I doubt Baros would of missed a chance on goal from 5 yards out with only Rooney standing on the line and there would of been no man pressure on him.

Anderson and Rooney made mistakes. Anderson let Krankjar get the ball, and Rooney came over towards Krankjar instead of going over to cover Baros.
