He may not do it against the big teams, but what he does do most of the time is so stunning i believe he is the best.

He may give the ball away a lot, but so do many other great players. The sheer number of goals he scores is so phenomenal he has to be right up there.

He isn't anywhere near his best against the big teams in the CL, but in the last 6 knockout ties against big teams for Man Utd he has scored 4 goals. So despite not playing to his best, he has a knack of still scoring.

I personally believe that most of you don't watch the full games and only watch the highlights.

It only takes one or two moments of magic to change a game.

I think Ronaldo is. Dont like the guy but his peformance this season and last have been simply sensational. He doesnt just score goals, he defends superbly and creates chances.

Messi is class, but i think if you look at what each do for there teams Ronaldo is better.

Ronaldo, Class going forward, one of the best defensive wingers in the premier league, Pace, Goals, Assists, Good in the air.

You can say what you like about Ronaldo, but he is the most damaging player in the world.

That's why i think he is the best.

Messi is great, but if ever you want someone to change a game and get you goal, Ronaldo is the man.

I think they each have the same quality, but Ronaldo is much more consistent that why i think hes the best at this point in time.

Great players cannot be expected to perform consistantly against the big teams as these teams have the sense to mark them out of the game.

How many times have u seen Ronaldo being marked by just one player? He always seems to have 2 or 3 players rush towards him as soon as he gets the ball.

Against world class defenders that is a very big ask!

Kaká did it against your team last season. Twice. Oh and also in the final agains Liverpool, giving a brilliant assistance to Inzaghi

This is it.

You can understand why though. The guy is a talent and he's not your typical footballer. He's got different qualities and techniques which make him stand out and now that he's using it well in a really strong side he's doing very well.

Personally I don't have a clue who is the best. There's nobody who truly stands out for me or has the real consistency or quality to be singled out as the best. But then again I don't watch every single player week in, week out.

Kaka was sh*t in the final.

Mascherano had him in his back pocket all game long.

The media always plays a part. But Ronaldo is so deadly, and pops up so often to win games for Man Utd he is there on merit, and not just media hype.

Ronaldo is going to go missing in games. He is a winger, and a flair player after all. That's always going to happen. It's when those sort of players turn it on that they earn their wage. Ronaldo turns it on a lot more than most. When he goes a few games without a goal people make a point of mentioning that, such is the prolificacy of him now. People are shocked when he goes only a few games without a goal, and he isn't even a striker FFS!

Man Utd's highest ever scoring winger or non striker in a single season is George Best, with either 32 or 33 goals (i can't remember which it is). Ronaldo already has 30 goals, and this is in an era with fewer goals, so that shows what an achievement his goal tally is. Just look at how much of a legend Best is - generally regarded as the best ever British player. Ronaldo looks certain to beat one of Best's best records.

Is he bordering on greatness?

Kaka no longer the 'best player in the world'
