Haha, this makes me feel slightly better about earlier. Absolutely fantastic from Barnsley, I was actually very nervous for them in that closing stage. I just wanted them to win for that kind of performance. Well done.

Well, it's a different kind of magic.

The football has still been utterly poor with poor officiating and Motson's commentating.

But results like this are greatly entertaining and magical in their own way.

Portsmouth are favorites now. They were moved up earlier today behind Chelsea, but now with Chelsea out, I don't see why Portsmouth won't be moved up to favorites.

But wow ...

Portsmouth
Barnsley
Middlesbrough v Cardiff City
Bristol Rovers v West Bromwich Albion

Definitely something new this year. It's exciting.

Motson has used both those phrases 15 times each and more to boot. Neutral

I can't believe Barnsley have knocked out two of the best teams not just in England but in Europe that is amazing completely unexpected and that is exactly what the FA Cup is about expect the unexpected. I can't believe that there may only be one Premiership team in the semi-finals that is if Boro lose to Cardiff i wonder what sort of odds you would of got for that at the beginning of the season and also for that team to not be one of the top 4.

Taxi for Grant

Guess "the quiet one" will be leaving for London during the summer. Apaarently Avram can't get to israel to sit his coaching license....i think come the summer he will have plenty of time to turn his attention to learning his trade.

So what will be said about Grant now?

No doubt he will get slated, even more than Benitez after the defeat to Barnsley, but what did he do wrong?

His team selection was nearly the strongest available, so it's not like the team he fielded didn't have the quality to absolutely batter Barnsley.

Lampard and Cech were both injured, the only two midfielders who often feature that missed out were Mikel and Makelele, but it's not like he can be criticised for leaving them out. Mikel has been in poor form, and is one of their weaker central midflieders anyway, and Makelele isn't as good as he once was, and is also well down in the pecking order. The only player that maybe should've played is Drogba, but it's not like Anelka isn't capable, and it's these sort of games that most would rest players like Drogba to give the next signing games.

So who's to blame?

I think the players.

Grant doesn't have the team unified in the locker room. He's not a leader like Jose. And apparently he doesn't have the ability to motivate his players. He's also not very good tactically.

But I agree, his team selection isn't the issue (this time around), and the players are to blame for not performing to their standards.

I thought it was Haik Ten Cate's job to motivate the players?

Barnsley v Chelsea
